Shorty Exhaust Header Performance Upgrade for Ford FE-Series V8 Engines

Who Is This For? Designed specifically for Ford classic car and truck owners running the legendary FE-Series V8 platform who need a high-flow exhaust solution that fits within tight engine bays while supporting daily driving and show-quality builds.

The Factory Manifold Choke: The original cast-iron manifolds on your classic Ford are heavy, prone to cracking, and extremely restrictive. As your FE-Series engine attempts to breathe, these log-style manifolds trap heat and create backpressure that kills throttle response. You’ll notice the engine feels sluggish during acceleration and struggles to maintain power at higher RPMs because the exhaust gas simply has nowhere to go.

The Engineering Solution: These Shorty Exhaust Headers are engineered to replace those restrictive factory logs with high-flow, mandrel-bent tubing. By utilizing CNC-machined 7/16" flanges and a TIG/MIG welded construction, we ensure a warp-resistant, leak-free seal that significantly improves exhaust scavenging. This design provides the necessary clearance for steering components and frames while allowing the 330, 360, 390, or 428 engine to breathe as it was meant to.

The Comparative Edge: Why This Beats the Competition

  • Proven Power Gains: Experience documented gains of up to 13HP and 11 lb-ft of torque by increasing air flow efficiency compared to stock manifolds.
  • Superior Material Integrity: Built with heavy-duty flanges and mandrel-bent tubing to prevent the thinning and cracking commonly seen in generic, budget-grade aftermarket headers.
  • Precise Vehicle Fitment: Engineered as a direct bolt-on for FE-Series displacements, avoiding the messy fabrication or frame-cutting required by universal long-tube alternatives.

PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING:

Ford FE (Ford-Edsel) series engines were used in F-Series trucks through 1968, but they were not phased out then. FE engines were used in Ford F-Series trucks from 1965 (specifically the 352) and 1968 (specifically the 360/390) until the end of the 1976 model year.

Key details regarding FE engines in F-Series trucks during that era:
  • 1965–1966: The 352 cubic inch FE V8 was a primary V8 option in the 4th Generation F-Series.
  • 1968–1976: The 360 and 390 cubic inch FE engines were introduced as standard, heavy-duty options for the 5th Generation and remained in use through the 6th Generation until 1976.
  • The 360 Truck Engine: Introduced in 1968, the 360 FE was designed for trucks with heavy-duty internal components and was often mistaken for a 390 because they shared the same block and heads.

While the 429/460 (385 series) started replacing FE engines in cars around 1968, the FE 360 and 390 continued to serve as primary truck powerplants until 1976.
