Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The factory PowerTech and Magnum engines use a bulky plastic resonator box (known in the community as the "intake hat") sitting directly on top of the throttle body. The hard plastic crankcase breather hose connected to the back of this hat gets incredibly brittle from years of heat cycles. Do not just yank the hat off, or you will snap the fitting off the valve cover. Disconnect it gently first. Additionally, the factory Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor uses a fragile plastic locking tab. Twist it carefully counter-clockwise to remove it; pry on it, and you’ll be taking a trip to the parts store.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part from your 2003-2010 Dodge Dakota 3.7L 4.7L
