Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 3800 Series II engine has an Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor jammed into a rubber grommet on the factory intake arm. After decades of heat cycling under the hood of your H-Body, that rubber is rock hard. Do not just yank the sensor! Spray the grommet with silicone lubricant, twist the sensor gently to break the seal, and pull straight out. Snapping the plastic probe will throw an immediate Check Engine Light and cause rough idling.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part from your 1995-2005 Pontiac Bonneville 3.8L

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and short circuits.
