Performance Timing Chain Kit for GMC Yukon (2003-2007) 4.8L 5.3L 6.0L

Heavy-Duty Timing Chain Kit for 2003-2007 GMC Yukon (GMT800)

What it Does: The Performance Timing Chain Kit replaces the stretched factory timing drive on the 2003-2007 GMC Yukon to eliminate timing backlash, maintain accurate valve events, and prevent ignition sync loss under heavy engine loads.

The Stock GMC Yukon Timing Drive Deflection

High-mileage GMT800 platforms powered by the Gen III LS-series V8 (including the LR4, LM7, and LQ4) frequently suffer from progressive timing chain stretch and sprocket tooth cavitation. The factory silent-link chain is prone to mechanical slack over thousands of thermal cycles and sustained towing stress. This elongation retards camshaft timing, induces erratic spark timing, degrades low-end torque, and risks generating P0016 or P0300 diagnostic trouble codes due to inconsistent camshaft position sensor signals.

The Engineering Solution

Engineered to handle severe duty cycles and elevated valvetrain loads, this replacement timing assembly utilizes high-tensile, pre-stressed steel links engineered to resist elongation under torsional shock loads. Matched with precision-machined, induction-hardened crank and cam sprockets, this assembly is designed to ensure minimal rotational backlash and precise mechanical synchronization. Configured specifically for 24X reluctor crank profiles, it secures critical valve-to-piston clearance and maintains stable valve events throughout the entire RPM band.

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings

Does this fit the GMT800 Yukon?

Yes, this is a direct fit for the 2003-2007 GMC Yukon equipped with 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L Gen III LS engines featuring a 24X reluctor setup. This kit does not fit later 58X reluctor Gen IV configurations or 4-pole camshaft setups.

Do I need to verify tooth count and link pitch prior to installation?

Yes, always verify sprocket tooth counts and chain link counts against your removed factory timing set to confirm compatibility with your specific 24X crankshaft snout and single-bolt camshaft gear.

The GMC Heavy-Duty Standard

Full-size GMC utility platforms require unrelenting valvetrain reliability to manage heavy towing payloads and continuous high-load highway driving. Upgrading to a tight-tolerance, hardened-sprocket timing set protects your engine from valvetrain drift, ensuring long-lasting mechanical durability mile after mile.
