What it Does: Upgrades the factory cooling system with an all-aluminum, dual-row crossflow core designed to eliminate heat soak and prevent catastrophic thermal runaway on manual R52 platforms.
The Stock Convertible Thermal Vulnerabilities
The OEM R52 cooling assembly relies on crimped plastic end tanks bonded to a narrow single-row aluminum core. Under sustained engine load and high-ambient heat cycles, the supercharged and naturally aspirated 1.6L Tritec engines generate high underhood temperatures that quickly embrittle factory composite end tanks. Over time, vibration and thermal expansion cause hairline fractures along the tank-to-core seams, deteriorating the pressurized expansion-tank cooling circuit and risking immediate coolant loss and head gasket failure.

Engineered as a direct bolt-on upgrade, this performance radiator features 100% TIG-welded, aircraft-grade all-aluminum construction to withstand high hydraulic pressures. The robust 2-row crossflow racing core measures 580 mm wide by 388 mm high, significantly increasing fluid capacity and surface area for superior heat dissipation. Each unit is 100% leak-tested to ensure maximum thermal reliability under aggressive street and track driving conditions.
