Over repeated thermal cycles, continuous heat soak from the 3.7L and 4.7L PowerTech engines embrittles the composite plastic, leading to fatigue fractures at the inlet/outlet necks and blown tank-to-core seals. Additionally, the stock single-row core lacks adequate fluid volume, creating thermal bottlenecks during sustained grade climbs and payload hauling.

The Engineering Solution

This drop-in unit features an all-aluminum vacuum-brazed 3-row crossflow core (23.4 in W x 18.8 in H) fully assembled with 100% TIG-welded end tanks and zero structural epoxy. Multi-louvered high-density fins significantly enhance convective heat transfer while expanding overall fluid capacity. It includes an integrated 5/8-18 UNF transmission oil cooler (TOC) to maintain safe automatic transmission fluid operating temps, protecting against thermal breakdown and transmission slip.
