The Stock Colorado Thermal Fatigue Problem

Factory GMT355 radiators rely on crimped plastic end tanks bonded to a narrow single-row core with rubber gaskets. Over repeated thermal cycles, vibration and coolant pressure degrade the brittle composite tanks, routinely causing micro-cracking at the inlet neck and catastrophic seam separation. Furthermore, the limited OEM core volume struggles with heat soak during sustained climbs or ambient heat, threatening the Atlas inline engine family with elevated cylinder head temperatures and transmission fluid breakdown.

The Engineering Solution

Constructed entirely from aircraft-grade aluminum with 100% TIG-welded tanks, this performance radiator eliminates mechanical crimp seals for maximum structural rigidity. The 2-row downflow core (22.8 in. W x 18.1 in. H) significantly increases fluid capacity and convective heat dissipation. Equipped with an integrated internal transmission fluid cooler and direct-fit mounting tabs, it drops into the factory location without shroud modifications and includes a high-pressure radiator cap.
