Performance Drive Belt Tensioner Kit for Jeep Compass (2008-2017) 2.0L 2.4L

Heavy-Duty Drive Belt Tensioner & Pulley Kit for 2008-2017 Jeep Compass (MK49)

What it Does: The Performance Drive Belt Tensioner Kit replaces the fatigued factory spring tensioner, worn idler pulleys, and accessory drive belt on the 2008-2017 Compass to restore optimal belt tension and eliminate accessory slippage.

The Stock Jeep Compass Tensioner Fatigue & Pulley Wear

Factory belt drive components on the MK49 chassis degrade significantly under heat and continuous load. Over time, the internal spring mechanism inside the factory tensioner suffers mechanical fatigue, losing proper dampening tension. Concurrently, factory composite idler pulleys develop excessive bearing runout, dried grease seals, and rib glazing. This misalignment induces belt flutter, premature ribbed edge fraying, alternator slip under electrical draw, and audible belt squeal on cold starts.

The Engineering Solution

This comprehensive front-end accessory drive (FEAD) solution restores structural stability across the accessory drive loop of the GEMA World Engine. Featuring a reinforced internal torsional spring, the tensioner dampens dynamic crankshaft harmonics and maintains steady contact pressure across all pulleys. Both included idler pulleys are fitted with premium sealed high-speed bearings packed with high-temperature synthetic grease to prevent bearing seizure. Paired with a high-tensile EPDM serpentine belt resistant to rib cracking and oil degradation, this kit ensures positive accessory engagement without parasitic loss.

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings

Does this fit the MK49 Compass?

Yes, this is a direct fit for the 2008-2017 Jeep Compass equipped with the 2.0L ECN or 2.4L ED3 engine. Confirm your vehicle has the 2.0L or 2.4L gasoline World Engine before ordering; this kit does not fit international CRD diesel models.

Do I need special tools to complete this installation?

Standard hand tools along with a dedicated serpentine belt tool or long-handled 3/8-inch drive bar are recommended to safely release tension from the spring-loaded assembly during routing.

The Jeep Durability Standard

Engineered to handle severe thermal cycling and high engine bay loads, this drive assembly delivers stable power transmission to your alternator, water pump, and AC compressor on rough backroads or daily stop-and-go driving.
