Cold Air Intake Kit for Ford F-150 / Expedition & Lincoln Navigator 2.7L / 3.5L EcoBoost (2015–2023) - Turbo Performance & Cooler Intake

This cold air intake system is designed to replace the factory air box on 2015–2023 Ford F-150, F-150 Raptor, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator models equipped with 2.7L or 3.5L V6 twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engines. The system reduces intake restriction by using T-304 polished aluminum intake piping and a high-flow air filter with integrated heat shield. This results in improved throttle response, enhanced turbo spool characteristics, and measurable gains in horsepower and torque across the RPM range.

The intake uses larger diameter aluminum tubing compared to the factory intake tract, creating a less restrictive path for incoming air to reach the twin turbochargers. The powder-coated steel heat shield blocks hot engine bay air, allowing the filter to draw cooler, denser air for improved combustion efficiency. The system produces a more audible turbo spool sound and deeper intake note during acceleration.

Vehicle Fitment

Ford F-150:

  • 2015–2023 Ford F-150 (2.7L V6 Twin-Turbo EcoBoost)
  • 2015–2023 Ford F-150 (3.5L V6 Twin-Turbo EcoBoost)

Ford F-150 Raptor:

Important: Fits EcoBoost twin-turbocharged engines only.

Performance & Design

Turbocharger Optimization: The system is engineered to improve airflow to the twin turbochargers by eliminating restrictive elements in the factory intake path. The increased air volume allows the turbochargers to operate more efficiently, reducing turbo lag and improving spool characteristics. Testing under controlled conditions has shown potential gains of 7–10% in horsepower and 6–8% in torque. Actual performance improvements will vary based on vehicle condition, elevation, ambient temperature, and existing modifications.

Throttle Response: The reduced intake restriction allows the engine to draw air more efficiently during acceleration and under load conditions such as towing or overtaking. This results in improved throttle response and power delivery throughout the RPM range, particularly in low-to-mid range acceleration scenarios.

Construction & Materials

T-304 Polished Aluminum Construction: The intake pipe is constructed from T-304 polished aluminum, which provides corrosion resistance and reduces weight compared to factory components. The polished finish provides both aesthetic appeal and additional protection against oxidation in the engine bay environment.

Heat Shield Design: The powder-coated steel heat shield features a carbon-black finish and is designed to block hot engine bay air from reaching the air filter. This thermal management allows the filter to draw cooler outside air, which is denser and contains more oxygen for improved combustion efficiency. The heat shield protects the filter element and helps maintain consistent intake air temperatures during extended driving.

Filter Design: The premium cone air filter uses washable filter media designed for superior engine protection and long-term performance. The filter provides adequate filtration while maintaining lower restriction than factory paper elements. The reusable design eliminates the need for replacement filters and reduces long-term maintenance costs.

Product Specifications

  • Engine Application: 2.7L / 3.5L V6 EcoBoost Twin-Turbo
  • Pipe Material: T-304 Polished Aluminum
  • Heat Shield: Powder-Coated Steel (Carbon Black)
  • System Type: High-Flow Cold Air Induction
  • Maintenance: Washable and Reusable Performance Filter

Installation

  • Direct replacement for factory air intake system
  • Uses existing factory mounting points
  • No cutting or drilling required
  • Complete hardware kit included
  • Basic hand tools required
  • Engine must be completely cool before beginning work

Installation Note:
Before beginning installation, disconnect the negative battery cable. After installation is complete, keep the negative battery cable disconnected for at least one minute to allow the engine control unit to reset and adapt to the modified airflow characteristics. This allows the ECU to learn the new airflow parameters and recalibrate fuel delivery and ignition timing. Always ensure the engine is completely cool before performing any engine bay work.

Filter Maintenance

Inspection Schedule: Inspect the air filter every 5,000 miles and clean if necessary. Driving conditions such as dusty environments, towing, off-road use, or heavy traffic may require more frequent inspection and cleaning.

Cleaning Procedure: Remove the filter from the intake tube. Gently tap the filter to remove loose debris. Apply an appropriate air filter cleaning solution to both the inside and outside of the filter element, working it into the filter media. Allow the cleaner to soak for approximately 10 minutes. Rinse the filter thoroughly with low-pressure water from the clean side out, continuing until water runs clear. Shake off excess water and allow the filter to air dry completely in a clean environment. Once fully dry, apply air filter oil evenly to the filter media according to product specifications. Allow the oil to wick through the filter material for approximately 20 minutes before reinstalling. Ensure the filter is completely dry before applying oil, as moisture will prevent proper oil absorption.

Compatibility Requirements

Engine Verification: This cold air intake system is designed exclusively for 2.7L and 3.5L V6 twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engines. The system is not compatible with non-turbocharged or single-turbo engine configurations. Verify your vehicle is equipped with an EcoBoost twin-turbo engine before purchase to ensure proper fitment and operation.

This cold air intake kit provides improved airflow characteristics to the twin turbochargers on EcoBoost-equipped F-150, Expedition, and Navigator models while maintaining reliable filtration through an integrated heat shield design. The system is designed to work with factory engine management components and manifold systems without requiring additional modifications or tuning.
