Performance Air Filter for Alfa Romeo 4C, Fiat Bravo & Lancia Delta (2007-2020)

High-Flow BMC Performance Air Filter for Alfa Romeo 4C (Type 960)

What it Does: The BMC performance air filter replaces the restrictive factory paper element on the Alfa Romeo 4C to increase airflow velocity and reduce intake manifold depression while maintaining critical filtration efficiency.

The Stock Alfa Romeo 4C Intake Filtration Weakness

The mid-engine configuration of the Alfa Romeo 4C routes induction air through a compact side-scoop tract directly into the OEM airbox. The factory cellulose paper element creates substantial airflow restriction under boost. Cellulose fibers rely on dense surface-loading to block debris, causing a rapid increase in intake delta-P (pressure drop) as micro-particulates accumulate.

Under sustained load on the 960A1000 1.75L turbocharged engine, this intake depression throttles volumetric efficiency at the compressor inlet, blunting transient throttle response and increasing spool recovery latency between shifts.

The Engineering Solution

Engineered to motorsport tolerances, the BMC FB543/08 filter replaces restrictive paper with multi-layered, low-viscosity oiled cotton gauze encased in an epoxy-coated alloy mesh. Fabricated using a proprietary continuous-molding process ("Full Moulding"), the durable polyurethane perimeter resists high thermal cycling in the enclosed mid-engine bay without joint failure, seam separation, or edge blow-by.

This configuration yields significantly lower pre-turbo pressure drop and flows contaminants down to 7 microns without choking mass airflow dynamics. It drops directly into the OEM housing with zero modifications.

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings

Does this fit the Type 960 4C?

Yes, this is a direct drop-in fit for the factory airbox on the Alfa Romeo 4C equipped with the 960A1000 1750 TBi engine.

Does this filter require an ECU recalibration or cause CEL codes?

No ECU tune is required; the drop-in panel retains stock airbox metering geometry and operates safely without triggering check engine lights or fouling mass airflow sensors.

The Alfa Romeo Standard

Designed to European motorsport specifications, this filter ensures precise factory-level sealing, sustained turbo responsiveness, and zero Check Engine lights across aggressive track and street driving cycles.
