High-Flow 4-2-1 Exhaust Header for 1989-1994 Suzuki Samurai & Geo Tracker (G13/G16 Engines)

What it Does: This T304 stainless steel 4-2-1 exhaust header replaces the restrictive factory cast-iron manifold to improve exhaust scavenging, reduce backpressure, and increase mid-range torque for Suzuki and Geo SOHC engines.

The Stock Samurai & Tracker Exhaust Bottleneck

The factory-installed cast iron manifold on the Suzuki G13 and G16 engine series is a notorious point of failure and performance restriction. Designed for manufacturing ease rather than airflow efficiency, the OEM log-style manifold creates significant turbulence and backpressure due to its rough internal casting and abrupt collector merges. Over decades of heat cycles, these cast units are highly susceptible to hairline stress fractures and warping at the cylinder head flange, leading to persistent exhaust leaks. These leaks not only degrade idle quality and fuel economy but also increase engine bay temperatures, which can accelerate the wear of nearby vacuum lines and electrical components.

The Engineering Solution

This performance header is engineered to maximize volumetric efficiency through a 4-2-1 Tri-Y design, which optimizes exhaust pulse tuning for a broader torque curve—essential for off-road crawling and highway merging. Constructed from high-grade stainless steel with 1 3/8" primary tubes and a 2.5" collector, the unit features CNC-machined flanges that provide a warp-resistant, airtight seal. The assembly utilizes a combination of TIG and MIG welding for superior structural integrity under high EGTs (Exhaust Gas Temperatures). By streamlining the exhaust path and utilizing mandrel-bent tubing, this header reduces pumping losses, yielding a functional gain of 5-10 HP. The integrated O2 sensor bung ensures seamless integration with the factory EFI or carbureted feedback systems.

The Suzuki & Geo Off-Road Standard

These lightweight platforms are legendary for their off-road agility but are frequently limited by their small-displacement power plants. Upgrading to a high-flow stainless manifold provides the necessary breathability for vehicles running larger tires or heavy recovery gear. This header ensures your G-series engine maintains peak mechanical efficiency during high-load steep climbs and rugged trail use.
