The Stock GMT330 Thermal Limitations
The OEM plastic-tank and single-core radiators on the GMT330 platform are notorious for severe heat soak, especially when under load, towing, or dealing with the restricted airflow of the S-10 and Blazer engine bays. Over time, the factory crimped plastic end tanks degrade through constant thermal cycling, leading to micro-fractures, catastrophic coolant leaks, and sudden overheating. Furthermore, the stock mechanical clutch fan creates parasitic drag on the water pump and engine, sapping horsepower and failing to provide adequate, consistent airflow when the engine is operating at low RPMs or idle.
The Engineering Solution
This complete cooling overhaul features a TIG-welded, all-aluminum construction with a massive 3-row core (44mm thick) to maximize coolant volume and surface area. By replacing the inefficient factory design, it dramatically increases thermal dissipation capabilities. The included aluminum fan shroud and dual 12-inch electric fans (800 CFM, 10-blade, 2000 RPM) completely eliminate parasitic drag from the mechanical clutch fan while forcing a concentrated, high-velocity column of ambient air through the core, even at a standstill. Additionally, it features a built-in automatic transmission cooler (3/8-18NPT) to safely regulate trans fluid temperatures during load-bearing operations.
