High-Output 150A Alternator for 2012-2014 Kia Sorento (XM)
What it Does: The high-output alternator replaces the degraded factory charging unit on the 2012-2014 Kia Sorento to supply stable 150-amp electrical current and prevent charging system collapse under heavy electrical loads.
The Stock Kia Sorento Charging Deficiencies
Transverse packaging on the second-generation XM platform subjects the 2.4L Theta II charging system to extreme engine bay heat soak. Over mileage and operating cycles, the factory rectifier bridge and internal voltage regulator suffer diode breakdown. This thermal stress induces high internal resistance, voltage drops below 13.2V under load, persistent battery discharge, and parasitic draw that impairs sensitive electronic steering and body control modules.
The Engineering Solution
Engineered to resolve heat-related stator failure, this 100% brand-new replacement alternator integrates heavy-duty copper stator windings and commercial-grade internal diodes rated for elevated ambient temperatures. The solid-state voltage regulator maintains a steady 14.2V–14.6V output across all RPM bands. Equipped with a balanced SC6 6-groove serpentine clutch pulley, it matches OEM belt alignment perfectly, minimizing parasitic vibration and belt chirp while plugging directly into the factory 3-pin harness without wiring alterations.
What's Included
- 1 × 150A Alternator (with pre-installed SC6 6-groove serpentine pulley)
