High-Amp Charging Output Alternator for 1999-2002 Infiniti G20 (P11)

What it Does: The high output alternator replaces the low-amperage factory charging unit on the 1999-2002 Infiniti G20 to deliver stable 185-amp current and prevent voltage drop under heavy electrical loads.

The Stock Infiniti G20 Charging System Limitations

The factory charging system on the P11 chassis relies on an OEM 80-amp alternator that struggles under modern electrical demands. When powering high-draw accessories such as aftermarket audio amplifiers, auxiliary cooling fans, or upgraded lighting, the stock stator windings saturate quickly, leading to extreme thermal stress. This amperage deficit causes severe voltage drop down to sub-12.5V levels at idle, inducing headlight flicker, erratic idle control, ignition coil performance degradation, and accelerated battery sulfation. Over time, heat soak degrades the factory internal diode pack, resulting in total charging failure.

The Engineering Solution

Engineered around heavy-gauge copper stator windings and a precision dynamic-balanced rotor, this 185-amp direct-replacement unit delivers continuous, high-efficiency current across the entire RPM band. It integrates a heavy-duty solid-state internal voltage regulator to clamp charging voltage between 13.5V and 14.5V, mitigating transient spikes. High-temperature sealed bearings reduce rotational friction and mechanical drag on the accessory belt drive. Operating within factory mounting geometry, it retains the OEM rotation, pulley offset, and terminal harness plug for clean installation while replacing parts like 23100-4M611 and AL2390X.

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings

Does this fit the P11 G20?

Yes, this is a direct fit for the 1999-2002 Infiniti G20 equipped with the SR20DE engine.

Do I need to upgrade my charging wiring for this alternator?

While it plugs directly into the factory harness, upgrading the main B+ charging cable and chassis ground wires (Big 3 upgrade) is recommended to safely handle the maximum 185-amp current flow.

The Infiniti Tuner Standard

Built to meet the rigorous demands of classic JDM touring platforms, this alternator maintains peak current delivery to preserve ignition voltage stability and clean throttle response under high parasitic loads.
