High Output Alternator for Ford Focus (2005-2007) 2.0L

High-Output 250A Alternator for 2005-2007 Ford Focus C170

What it Does: The High Output Alternator replaces the low-output factory charging unit on the 2005-2007 Focus to provide a constant 250-amp current and eliminate electrical strain under heavy accessory loads.

The Stock Ford Focus Charging Limitations

The factory charging system on the C170 platform utilizes an OEM alternator rated for standard factory electronics. When aftermarket demands like high-draw car audio amplifiers, auxiliary cooling fans, or high-output lighting are introduced, the factory unit suffers from severe diode heat soak and rotor stator saturation. This leads to critical voltage sag below 12.6 volts at idle, dimming headlights, slow starter rotation, and premature battery degradation.

The Engineering Solution

Engineered for high current delivery, this replacement features a high-output hair-pin style copper stator winding and a heavy-duty rectifier bridge designed to dissipate internal heat effectively. Delivering up to 250 amps, it stabilizes primary system voltage at 14.4 volts even under high-load idle conditions. Constructed with a direct-fit cast aluminum housing, it utilizes OEM mounting tabs and factory harness interfaces to replace stock part numbers such as 4S4T-10300-AC and 5S4Z-10346-A without custom mounting brackets.

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings

Does this fit the C170 Focus?

Yes, this is a direct fit for the 2005-2007 Ford Focus equipped with the Duratec 20 2.0L engine. Fits automatic transmission and federal emissions models only; does not fit manual transmission or California emissions (PZEV) models.

Do I need to upgrade my wiring for this alternator?

To safely transfer the full 250-amp output and avoid voltage drops, upgrading the positive B+ charge lead and primary ground cables with heavy-gauge wire is strongly recommended.

The Ford Compact Caliber

Engineered to handle severe electrical draw without sacrificing daily commuter reliability, this unit ensures your Ford's ignition, sensors, and aftermarket electronics perform at optimal operating voltages under all operating temperatures.
