High Output Alternator for Dodge Ram 1500 Ram 2500 (2003-2006) 5.7L

High-Output 200-Amp Alternator for 2003-2006 Dodge Ram 1500,Ram 2500 (DR/DH)

What it Does: The High Output Alternator replaces the factory charging unit on the 2003-2006 Dodge Ram 1500 and Ram 2500 to deliver a continuous 200 amps of stable current, preventing voltage drops under heavy electrical load.

The Stock Dodge Ram 1500,Ram 2500 Charging Limitations

Factory alternators on the third-generation DR/DH platform were wound for modest factory accessory loads, delivering only 136 to 160 peak amps. When powering auxiliary lighting, winches, snow plows, or heavy towing accessories, the stock unit suffers severe rotor and stator heat soak. Elevated underhood temperatures around the 5.7L HEMI V8 accelerate diode failure inside the OEM rectifier bridge, resulting in charging system dropouts below 12.8 volts at curb idle and premature battery degradation.

The Engineering Solution

Engineered and assembled in the USA, this 200-amp direct replacement utilizes heavy-duty copper windings and high-tolerance avalanche diodes to ensure continuous, ripple-free current transfer. An upgraded aluminum housing provides superior heat sinking over the stock casing, lowering internal resistance and keeping stator temperatures manageable under sustained draw. Designed to match factory mounting locations and belt offsets, this unit replaces OEM reference numbers 56029086AA and 0124525051 without requiring bracket alterations.
