The Stock Ram Manifold Limitations

The OEM cast-iron manifold on the 12V Cummins is notorious for "manifold shrinkage" and eventual cracking caused by decades of extreme thermal cycling. Beyond structural failure, the factory casting features rough internal walls and restrictive geometry that creates significant exhaust backpressure. This turbulence hampers the exhaust gas velocity required to drive the turbine wheel efficiently, resulting in sluggish throttle response and elevated Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGTs), which can jeopardize engine longevity during heavy towing or competitive sled pulling.
