High-Flow Stainless Steel Exhaust Header Manifold for 1988-1995 Toyota 4Runner, Pickup

What it Does: Replaces the restrictive factory cast iron exhaust manifolds and crossover pipe with a 6-2-1 long-tube stainless steel header system to efficiently scavenge exhaust gasses, reduce under-hood heat, and increase engine volumetric efficiency.

The Stock 3VZ-E Manifold Bottleneck

The factory 3.0L 3VZ-E engine is notoriously plagued by restrictive cast-iron exhaust manifolds and a poorly routed crossover pipe that wraps behind the engine block. This OEM configuration creates severe exhaust turbulence and excessive backpressure, leading to localized heat accumulation. This "heat soak" effect not only chokes off top-end horsepower and low-end torque but is a primary contributor to premature head gasket failure on the passenger side cylinder bank—a well-documented flaw of the 3VZ-E architecture. Escaping exhaust pulses collide rather than scavenge, strangling the engine's natural airflow dynamics.

The Engineering Solution

This full-length 6-2-1 header system mitigates factory crossover pipe thermal issues by utilizing computerized mandrel-bent stainless tubing for streamlined exhaust flow. Featuring 1-5/8" OD primaries stepping into a 2-1/4" OD collector, the geometry is optimized to accelerate exhaust gas velocity. By pairing individual exhaust pulses efficiently, the 6-2-1 architecture creates a vacuum effect that actively pulls spent gases out of the combustion chamber. Precision CNC-machined flanges and TIG-welded construction ensure a warp-resistant, leak-free seal against the cylinder head under extreme thermal cycling. The result is a drop in cylinder head temperatures and an immediate, verifiable gain of 10-15 horsepower and torque, restoring critical pulling power.
