Late second-generation F-Body Camaros were choked by restrictive OEM cast-iron "log" manifolds engineered with uneven runner lengths and rough interior casting surfaces. These stock manifolds trap combustion heat, increase exhaust gas backpressure, and disrupt cylinder scavenging. Over decades of thermal cycling, factory iron units are also prone to developing hairline cracks, blown manifold gaskets, and warped sealing faces that cause persistent exhaust leaks.

The Engineering Solution

Fabricated for the SBC Gen I platform, these shorty headers feature smooth 1-5/8-inch mandrel-bent primary tubes feeding into 2.5-inch collectors to maximize exhaust gas velocity. Thick 7/16-inch CNC-machined cylinder head flanges and 3/8-inch collector flanges resist thermal warpage to help ensure a leak-free seal. TIG and MIG welded stainless steel construction resists corrosion, manages underhood thermal loads, and significantly sheds weight over cast iron.
