Performance Cold Air Intake Induction Kit for 2008–2014 Subaru Impreza WRX / STi 2.5L Turbo – Enhanced Airflow and Optimized Engine Performance
Personalized to unlock the hidden performance of your Subaru's engine, this induction system focuses on giving you more total output. Custom-built for the 2.5L Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, this kit replaces the restrictive factory air box and intake tube that often limits your vehicle's potential. Whether you are keeping things stock or looking to improve your power, this performance upgrade provides a smooth path for air to reach the turbo, leading to better efficiency and a more responsive drive.
Standard intake parts are often designed for silence, creating internal blocks that limit the engine's air supply. By utilizing high-velocity piping to pull in a larger volume of cooler, dense air, this system removes those barriers. This ensures that the engine works more effectively, leading to faster acceleration and a boost in power for your daily driving.
Key Features
-
Output Gain: Boosts horsepower and torque by up to 10% for a noticeable increase in performance.

Installation & Tools
Installation & Tools
The Wrench Time
- Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
- Difficulty: 3/10 - Straightforward bolt-on, but requires patience around brittle 10+ year-old factory plastics in the engine bay.
Tools You Will Need
- 10mm socket, 6-inch extension, and 3/8-inch drive ratchet
- 10mm wrench
- 8mm nut driver (or flathead screwdriver)
- Panel popper tool
- #2 Phillips screwdriver (or JIS screwdriver)
The EJ engine bay gets notoriously hot. On this chassis, the factory corrugated rubber turbo inlet hose is known to become incredibly brittle. When wrestling the OEM airbox out, do not yank aggressively. If you tear the turbo inlet hose where it meets the airbox piping, you’re in for a multi-hour replacement headache. Wiggle it out gently. Also, watch your MAF sensor O-ring—it likes to swell, tear, or go missing during the transfer.
Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part
- Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and reset the ECU parameters.
- Remove the Factory Snorkel: Pop the two clips holding the ram air duct to the radiator support using your panel popper tool. Pull the snorkel out of the factory airbox on your 2008-2014 Subaru Impreza WRX WRX STI 2.5L and set it aside.
- Unplug the MAF Sensor: Depress the tab on the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor wiring harness and carefully slide it off. Tuck the wire aside so it doesn’t get snagged.
- Loosen the Inlet Clamp: Use your 8mm nut driver to loosen the hose clamp securing the factory corrugated hose to the back of the OEM airbox.
- Extract the Factory Airbox: Locate and remove the lower mounting bolts holding the airbox to the frame using a 10mm socket and extension. Gently wiggle the airbox out of the rubber inlet hose and lift the entire unit out of the engine bay.
Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Subaru Impreza WRX/Sti (2008-2014) 2.5L Turbo Engine - Blue
- Transfer the MAF Sensor: Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, carefully remove the two screws holding the MAF sensor in the factory airbox. Gently pull the sensor out straight to avoid snapping the delicate filament. Ensure the rubber O-ring is intact, then install it into your new aftermarket intake tube using the provided hardware. Do not overtighten; snug is enough.
- Mount the Heat Shield: Drop the aftermarket heat shield into the factory mounting locations. Secure it using the provided hardware and your 10mm socket.
- Install the New Intake Tube: Slide the provided silicone coupler over the factory turbo inlet hose and secure it loosely with a hose clamp. Slide the new blue aluminum intake pipe into the coupler. Align the pipe’s mounting bracket with the chassis mount and bolt it down using a 10mm socket. Tighten all hose clamps firmly with your 8mm nut driver.
- Attach the Blue Filter and Harness: Slide the blue high-flow pod filter onto the end of the intake pipe. Tighten the filter clamp with an 8mm nut driver. Reconnect the MAF sensor wiring harness until it clicks securely.
- ECU Learning Procedure: Reconnect the negative battery terminal with your 10mm wrench. Start the engine. Do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds on the first startup. Let the car idle so the ECU can read the new airflow dynamics and adjust accordingly. (Note: For optimal safety and performance on the EJ25 turbo engine, a proper Accessport tune is highly recommended when altering the intake tract).
