Tired of your Nissan 370Z feeling choked and unresponsive? Imagine an immediate surge in power and a deeper, more aggressive engine note every time you hit the accelerator.

Performance Cold Air Intake Kit for Nissan 370Z (Z34) 3.7L V6 Engine Red

The stock intake system on your Nissan 370Z (VQ37VHR) is notorious for its restrictive design, often prioritizing quiet operation over raw performance. This factory bottleneck limits the volume and velocity of cool air reaching your engine, directly impacting horsepower, torque, and throttle response.

Our high-flow cold air intake kit directly addresses these limitations by replacing the narrow, convoluted OEM piping and airbox with a wide-diameter T304 lightweight aluminum induction system. Designed to capture and channel a significantly larger volume of cooler, denser air, this upgrade allows your 3.7L V6 engine to breathe freely, unlocking its true performance potential for a noticeably more dynamic driving experience.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Significant Power & Torque Gains: Experience an impressive boost of up to 10% in both horsepower and torque, translating to faster acceleration and a more exhilarating drive.
  • Optimized Airflow Temperature: The integrated heat shield actively blocks hot engine bay air, ensuring only cool, dense air reaches your engine for maximum combustion efficiency.
  • Superior Durability & Aesthetics: Crafted from premium T304 lightweight aluminum, this kit offers exceptional strength, corrosion resistance, and a striking under-hood appearance in vibrant red.
  • Unrestricted Airflow Dynamics: Replaces narrow, restrictive factory components with a wide-open pathway, satisfying your VQ37VHR engine’s demand for abundant air.
  • Sharper Acceleration & Driveability: Eliminates the "lag" associated with the stock intake, providing instant, crisp throttle response for precise control and spirited driving.
  • Enhanced Engine Sound: Transforms your 370Z’s acoustic signature with a deeper, more aggressive intake growl, especially noticeable under acceleration.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 90-120 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 5/10 - The VQ37VHR dual intake setup requires removing the front bumper fascia for proper long-tube routing into the grille cavity.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm Socket and Ratchet (for battery terminal, airbox bolts, and bumper hardware)
  • 8mm Nut Driver or Deep Socket (for T-bolt or worm-gear hose clamps)
  • JIS #2 Screwdriver (crucial for factory MAF sensor screws)
  • Panel Popper / Trim Tool (for brittle plastic push-clips on the bumper/shroud)
  • Needle-Nose Pliers (for factory PCV hose spring clamps)
  • 3mm or 4mm Allen Key (for aftermarket MAF hardware)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The Z34 platform has a notorious headache: the factory screws holding your dual MAF sensors are JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard), NOT standard Phillips. If you attack them with a worn-out Phillips screwdriver, you will cam-out and strip the soft heads instantly. Keep firm downward pressure. Secondly, the factory plastic PCV breather tubes are highly brittle after years of under-hood heat cycling—use a gentle twist-and-pull motion to remove them so they don’t snap inside the valve cover.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal on your 2009-2019 Nissan 370Z 3.7L using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and protect the ECU from short circuits.
  2. Extract the MAF Sensors: Depress the locking tabs to disconnect both MAF sensor wire harnesses. Carefully remove the factory screws using your JIS #2 screwdriver. Pull the sensors straight out with zero twisting to protect the delicate hot wires. Place them safely in a clean Ziploc bag.
  3. Remove the Front Bumper Fascia: To make room for a true cold air setup on the VQ37, use your 10mm socket and panel popper to remove the bolts and push-clips along the top radiator shroud, inner wheel wells, and undershroud. Carefully unclip the bumper fascia and set it on a blanket to prevent scratching.
  4. Disconnect the PCV Hoses: Grab your needle-nose pliers to compress the spring clamps on the factory PCV breather hoses connected to the intake tubes. Gently wiggle them off the plastic fittings.
  5. Extract the OEM Airboxes: Use an 8mm socket to loosen the hose clamps at both throttle bodies. Then, use a 10mm socket to remove the mounting bolts holding the dual factory airboxes to the chassis. Pull the entire restrictive OEM assembly out of the engine bay.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake Kit for Nissan 370Z (2009-2019) with 3.7L V6 Engine Red

  1. Route the New Red Aluminum Tubes: Slide the new red intake pipes through the core support openings and down into the front bumper cavity. Secure the supplied mounting brackets to the factory chassis points using a 10mm socket to prevent rattling.
  2. Mount the Silicone Couplers: Slide the provided silicone couplers onto the dual throttle bodies. Insert the intake tubes into the couplers. Snug the clamps down with your 8mm nut driver, but do not fully tighten them just yet to allow for final adjustment.
  3. Transfer the MAF Sensors: Carefully insert your saved factory MAF sensors into the new billet MAF housings on the intake tubes. Ensure the directional arrows on the sensors point toward the throttle bodies. Secure them using the provided aftermarket hex bolts and an Allen key. Do not overtighten, as you risk cracking the plastic sensor flange. Reconnect the wiring harnesses.
  4. Attach the PCV Lines and Filters: Connect the supplied PCV breather hoses from the valve covers to the welded nipples on the new intake tubes. Install the high-flow air filters onto the ends of the tubes inside the bumper cavity and lock them down tight with an 8mm socket. Double-check all clearances, fully tighten the throttle body clamps, and carefully reinstall your front bumper.
  5. Perform the ECU Relearn: Reconnect your negative battery terminal. Turn the key or push the start button to fire up the engine. Do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds while the ECU recalibrates its fuel trims to the massively increased airflow from the new setup. Let the vehicle idle for 5-10 minutes to reach operating temperature.
