Cold Air Intake System with Heat Shield for Infiniti G37 3.7L V6 (2008–2013)

Upgrade your Infiniti G37's performance, throttle response, and engine sound with this precision-engineered Cold Air Intake System featuring an integrated heat shield. Designed specifically for the 3.7L V6 platform, this intake replaces the restrictive factory air box with a high-flow system that delivers cooler, denser air to your engine—where power begins.

The Infiniti G37 is known for its robust VQ37VHR engine, a platform celebrated for smooth power delivery and high-revving performance. This cold air intake complements that heritage by improving airflow efficiency, allowing the engine to breathe easier under acceleration while maintaining daily-driving reliability.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Increased Horsepower & Torque Optimized airflow improves engine efficiency and overall performance.
  • High-Quality T304 Aluminum Piping Lightweight, corrosion-resistant construction for long-term durability and consistent airflow.
  • High-Flow Washable Air Filter Exceptional filtration and airflow; reusable and serviceable—cleaning typically required only every 50,000 miles under normal driving conditions.
  • Heat Shield Protection Isolates the intake from engine bay heat, promoting cooler intake air temperatures.
  • Improved Throttle Response Noticeably sharper acceleration and a more responsive driving feel.
  • Enhanced Engine Sound Produces a deeper, sportier intake tone under throttle without being overly aggressive.
  • Direct Replacement Design Replaces the factory air box and intake tube with no permanent modifications required.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 60-90 Minutes (Remember, the VQ37VHR has dual intakes, so you are doing everything twice)
  • Difficulty: 3/10 - Basic bolt-on, but requires patience with brittle 10-year-old plastics and sensitive electronics.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm socket with a 6-inch extension and ratchet
  • 8mm nut driver or flathead screwdriver for hose clamps
  • #2 Phillips screwdriver (a stubby version helps with clearance)
  • Needle-nose pliers for the factory spring clamps
  • Panel popper tool to safely remove the core support shroud clips
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The VQ community knows all about the dreaded P010B and P0106 idle codes. The dual Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensors on the 3.7L are incredibly sensitive. Do NOT touch the exposed wire elements, do NOT drop them, and make sure you do not mix up the driver and passenger side sensors. Also, apply gentle pressure when removing the factory PCV breather hoses; the 10-year-old plastic fittings on the factory corrugated tubes will snap easily if you wrestle them.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part on your 2008-2013 Infiniti G37 3.7L

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and protect the ECU.
  2. Remove the Engine Shroud: Grab your panel popper and carefully pry up the push-clips securing the plastic radiator shroud to access the front of the intake system.
  3. Extract the MAF Sensors: Unplug the wiring harnesses from both MAF sensors. Use your #2 Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws holding each sensor. Gently pull them straight out and set them in a safe, clean location.
  4. Disconnect the PCV Lines: Use needle-nose pliers to squeeze the spring clamps on the factory PCV breather hoses located on the sides of the intake tubes, then twist and pull the hoses backward off the plastic nipples.
  5. Unbolt and Remove the Airboxes: Loosen the hose clamps at the throttle bodies using an 8mm nut driver. Then, use a 10mm socket to remove the mounting bolt holding each factory airbox to the chassis. Pull both the driver and passenger intake assemblies straight up and out of the engine bay.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake Kit for Infiniti G37 (2008-2013) with 3.7L V6 Engine Red

  1. Mount the Silicone Couplers: Slide the provided silicone reducers onto your dual throttle bodies. Secure them by tightening the provided clamps with your 8mm nut driver, but leave the front clamps loose enough to accept the new pipes.
  2. Transfer the Sensors: Carefully install your factory MAF sensors into the new red aluminum intake tubes. Use the supplied aftermarket hardware (do not reuse the factory coarse-thread screws in the new machined MAF pads) and tighten them down securely. Do not over-torque!
  3. Install the New Intake Tubes: Slide the new red intake pipes into the silicone couplers. Reconnect your factory PCV breather hoses to the new welded bungs, securing them with your pliers and the factory spring clamps.
  4. Mount the Filters: Attach the high-flow air filters to the ends of the intake tubes. Tighten the filter clamps securely using an 8mm nut driver. Double-check all clearances to ensure the aluminum tubes are not rubbing against the A/C lines or the chassis.
  5. Final Lockdown and ECU Relearn: Reconnect the MAF sensor harnesses. Reconnect your negative battery terminal with a 10mm wrench. On the first startup, do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds; let the vehicle idle completely untouched so the ECU can calibrate to the increased airflow without throwing a code.
