Feeling your heavy-duty Ram struggle for breath? Unlock the true potential of your 5.7L HEMI with an upgrade that delivers instant power and a commanding exhaust note.

Performance Cold Air Intake Kit for Dodge RAM 1500/2500/3500 (5.7L V8 HEMI)

The factory air box and restrictive intake tubing on your Dodge RAM’s 5.7L HEMI engine act like a straw, choking its massive V8, limiting airflow, and preventing it from delivering its full power and signature growl. This design prioritizes quiet operation over raw performance, leaving significant horsepower and torque on the table.

This performance Cold Air Intake Kit directly addresses those limitations, replacing the OEM bottlenecks with a free-flowing T304 lightweight aluminum pipe and a high-efficiency conical filter. By delivering a consistent, dense charge of cooler air directly to your engine, it unleashes dormant power, sharpens throttle response, and provides a more aggressive, satisfying engine sound.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Instant Horsepower & Torque Gains: Boost your HEMI’s output by up to 10% for noticeable improvements in acceleration and towing capability.
  • Superior Air Filtration: Engineered for exceptional filtration and maximum airflow, protecting your engine while enhancing performance.
  • Aggressive Engine Acoustics: Experience a deeper, sportier tone from your 5.7L V8 HEMI, announcing its presence with every press of the pedal.
  • Reduced Maintenance: The washable, reusable air filter requires cleaning only every 50,000 miles under normal driving conditions, saving you money on replacements.
  • Easy, Warranty-Safe Installation: Designed for a straightforward bolt-on installation using basic hand tools in under an hour, without voiding your vehicle’s warranty.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time for your 2003-2008 Dodge Ram Ram 1500 Ram 2500 Ram 3500 1500 2500 3500 5.7L

  • Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 2/10 - Basic hand tools and driveway space. The only tricky part is handling the brittle 15-year-old plastics.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm deep socket and ratchet (for the factory resonator and battery terminal)
  • 8mm socket or nut driver (for hose clamps)
  • 13mm socket and extension (for the lower airbox mounting bolt)
  • Panel popper tool (to safely detach the factory wire harness tree clips)
  • Silicone spray lubricant (to safely seat the factory sensor into the new intake tube)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 3rd Gen 5.7L Hemi uses a massive factory resonator sitting right on top of the throttle body, famously known on the forums as the "Hemi Hat." Your factory IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor is jammed directly into this plastic hat. Do NOT pry this sensor with a flathead screwdriver! It is a twist-and-lock style. Twist it a quarter-turn counter-clockwise and pull straight out. If you snap the fragile plastic probe, your truck will throw a check engine light immediately. Also, be incredibly gentle with the hard plastic PCV breather hose connecting to the oil filler neck—engine bay heat makes it shatter like glass.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory "Hemi Hat" and Airbox

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and protect the ECU.
  2. Unplug the IAT Sensor: Locate the IAT sensor on the front-right side of the factory Hemi Hat resonator. Push the release tab and pull the connector off. Use a panel popper to free the wiring harness push-clip from the plastic housing so you have slack.
  3. Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Use an 8mm socket to loosen the factory hose clamp securing the resonator hat to the throttle body.
  4. Remove the Hemi Hat: Use a 10mm socket to remove the two bolts holding the resonator to the intake manifold. Carefully twist and pull the factory breather hose away from the oil filler neck port. Lift the entire Hemi Hat assembly straight up and off the engine.
  5. Extract the IAT Sensor Safely: With the hat on your workbench, carefully twist the IAT sensor a quarter-turn counter-clockwise and pull it out. Set it somewhere clean and safe. You will need it for the new intake.
  6. Pull the Lower Airbox: Grab your 13mm socket and extension to remove the single bolt holding the factory lower airbox to the passenger fender well. Once removed, grab the airbox with both hands and pull straight up to pop it out of the factory rubber mounting grommets.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Dodge RAM 1500 2500 3500 (2003-2008) 5.7L Engine

  1. Assemble and Mount the Heat Shield: Assemble the new heat shield panels using the supplied hardware. Press the bottom posts of the shield firmly into the factory rubber grommets on the fender tray. Secure the main mounting tab to the fender using the factory bolt and your 13mm socket.
  2. Install the Silicone Coupler: Slide the provided silicone coupler onto the throttle body. Slide two hose clamps onto the coupler, and lightly snug the throttle body side with your 8mm socket to hold it in place.
  3. Transfer the IAT Sensor: Press the supplied rubber grommet into the pre-drilled hole on your new intake tube. Apply a tiny drop of silicone spray lubricant to the O-ring of the factory IAT sensor, and gently push it into the grommet. Do not force it or strike it.
  4. Seat the Intake Tube: Slide the new intake tube into the throttle body coupler and lower the filter end into the heat shield. Install the new provided breather hose from the fitting on the intake tube to the factory port on the oil filler neck. Tighten down the throttle body and intake tube hose clamps using your 8mm socket.
  5. Install the Filter and Relearn Procedure: Slide the high-flow air filter onto the end of the intake tube inside the heat shield and clamp it down tight. Reconnect the wire harness to your IAT sensor. Finally, reconnect the negative battery terminal. On the first startup, do not touch the gas pedal for 20 seconds; let the vehicle idle so the ECU can adapt to the massive increase in airflow.
