Tired of your Dodge Magnum’s muted throttle response and lackluster performance? Unlock the true potential of your 3.5L V6, transforming every drive into an exhilarating experience.

Performance Cold Air Intake Kit for Dodge Magnum SE/SXT (3.5L V6)

The factory air intake system in your Dodge Magnum 3.5L V6 is designed for quiet operation and cost-effectiveness, not peak performance. Its restrictive design, convoluted tubing, and often undersized paper filter choke your engine’s ability to breathe freely, limiting horsepower and torque potential.

This Performance Cold Air Intake Kit directly addresses these limitations, replacing the OEM airbox and tubing with a high-flow, T304 lightweight aluminum piping and an advanced conical air filter. The result is a dramatically improved airflow path, allowing your 3.5L V6 to ingest a greater volume of colder, denser air, directly translating to more power and a sharper throttle response.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Unleash Hidden Power: Experience gains of up to 10% in both horsepower and torque, transforming your Magnum’s acceleration and overall driving dynamics.
  • Optimized Airflow: Constructed from lightweight T304 aluminum, this intake provides a smooth, unobstructed path for air, minimizing turbulence and maximizing engine efficiency.
  • Superior Filtration & Air Quality: Engineered for exceptional filtration while maximizing airflow, ensuring your engine breathes clean, cool air for optimal combustion and longevity.
  • Instant Throttle Response: Eliminate lag with a much sharper throttle response, making your Magnum feel more agile and engaging in city driving and on the open road.
  • Aggressive Engine Note: Enhance your 3.5L V6’s exhaust note with a deeper, sportier growl under acceleration, turning heads wherever you go.
  • Long-Term Savings & Convenience: The washable, reusable air filter only requires cleaning every 50,000 miles under normal driving conditions, saving you money on constant replacements.
  • Effortless Installation: Designed for a straightforward bolt-on installation using common hand tools, typically completed in under 60 minutes without specialized knowledge.
  • Preserve Your Warranty: Engineered to comply with manufacturer standards, this performance upgrade will not void your vehicle’s warranty.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 3/10 - A straightforward bolt-on, but wrestling the factory LX platform lower resonator box out of the fender well takes a little patience.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm deep socket and ratchet (For battery terminal and factory airbox mounts)
  • 8mm nut driver or deep socket (For hose clamps)
  • Nylon panel popper tool (To safely remove brittle fender liner push-pins)
  • Flathead screwdriver (For prying the IAT sensor locking tab)
  • Silicone spray or soapy water (To lubricate the IAT sensor O-ring during transfer)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The LX platform community agrees: the factory Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor located in the stock tube is incredibly fragile due to years of under-hood heat cycling. Do not yank it out by the wires. Gently release the locking tab with a flathead, twist 90 degrees, and pull straight out. Breaking this sensor means a trip to the dealer and an instant Check Engine Light. Also, the lower air silencer box is wedged in the fender—don’t be afraid to pull back the splash shield using a panel popper to get it out without shattering the old plastic.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part from your 2005-2008 Dodge Magnum 3.5L

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal in the trunk using a 10mm wrench or socket to prevent shorts and reset the ECU’s long-term fuel trims.
  2. Unplug the IAT Sensor: Locate the IAT sensor on the factory intake tube near the throttle body (TB). Press the release tab and pull the harness connector free. Carefully twist the sensor counter-clockwise and pull it straight out of the rubber grommet. Set it aside in a safe, clean location.
  3. Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Using your 8mm nut driver or flathead screwdriver, loosen the factory hose clamp securing the stock rubber intake tube to the throttle body.
  4. Unbolt the Factory Airbox: Locate the main mounting bolt holding the airbox to the core support. Remove it using your 10mm socket.
  5. Remove the Intake Assembly and Resonator: Pull the entire upper airbox and tube off the throttle body. Next, reach down and unseat the lower resonator box attached to the bottom. If it fights you, use your nylon panel popper to remove the 3 plastic push-pins holding the front driver’s side fender liner, peel it back, and pull the resonator out from the bottom.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake Kit (Blue)

  1. Install the Silicone Coupler: Slide the provided blue silicone reducer/coupler onto your 3.5L throttle body. Slide two hose clamps loosely over the coupler. Tighten down the throttle body side using your 8mm socket, leaving the other clamp loose for now.
  2. Assemble and Mount the Heat Shield: Assemble the new heat shield using the supplied hardware. Drop it into the factory airbox location and secure it to the factory mounting points using your 10mm socket. Install the provided edge trim to protect the engine bay from rattling.
  3. Transfer the IAT Sensor: Install the new rubber grommet into the pre-drilled hole on your new blue intake tube. Apply a tiny drop of silicone spray or soapy water to the O-ring of your factory IAT sensor. Carefully push and twist the IAT sensor into the new grommet until fully seated.
  4. Install the Intake Tube and Filter: Slide the new blue intake tube into the silicone coupler at the throttle body. Guide the other end through the heat shield. Slide your new high-flow air filter onto the end of the tube and tighten the filter clamp with your 8mm socket. Fully tighten the remaining clamp at the throttle body coupler. Reconnect the IAT sensor wiring harness.
  5. ECU Relearn and Startup: Reconnect your negative battery terminal using the 10mm socket. Start the vehicle, but do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. Let the engine idle so the ECU can read the new airflow volume and adjust the idle parameters correctly.
