Tired of your truck or SUV feeling sluggish off the line? Transform your daily commute or heavy hauls with an immediate boost in throttle response and a deep, authoritative V8 growl that makes every drive exhilarating.

Performance Cold Air Intake for Chevrolet / GMC / Cadillac (5.3L & 6.2L EcoTec3 V8)

The factory air intake system in your 2014-2019 Silverado, Sierra, Escalade, Suburban, Tahoe, or Yukon is designed for quiet operation and cost-efficiency, not maximum performance. Its restrictive air box, corrugated intake tube, and pleated paper filter actively choke your V8 engine’s ability to breathe, limiting horsepower and torque potential, especially under load.

This high-flow cold air intake system specifically addresses these limitations by replacing the bottlenecking OEM components with a streamlined, mandrel-bent T304 aluminum induction pipe, a high-volume washable air filter, and a custom-fit heat shield. This allows your 5.3L or 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 to draw in a significantly larger volume of cooler, denser air, optimizing combustion and unlocking crisper throttle response, increased power, and a more aggressive V8 induction sound.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Unleash Hidden Power: Replaces restrictive factory ducting with a high-flow pathway, boosting horsepower and torque by up to 10% for superior acceleration and towing capability.
  • Enhanced Engine Protection: Features an advanced, high-flow washable and reusable synthetic air filter designed to capture harmful debris while maximizing airflow.
  • Optimal Thermal Management: Includes a heavy-duty heat shield that effectively isolates the intake from engine bay heat, ensuring cooler, denser air for consistent performance.
  • Aggressive V8 Sound: Elevates your truck’s acoustic character with a powerful, muscular intake roar, providing an exhilarating soundtrack every time you hit the gas.
  • Superior Durability: Constructed from premium T304 lightweight aluminum piping, offering exceptional strength, corrosion resistance, and heat dissipation for long-term reliability.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 2/10 - Beginner friendly, basic hand tools needed.
  • Vehicle Application: Specifically for the K2XX Platform: 2015-2019 Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado/Suburban, and GMC Sierra/Yukon (5.3L & 6.2L EcoTec3 V8s).

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm Socket & Ratchet (Negative battery terminal, air box mounting bolts)
  • 8mm Socket or Flathead Screwdriver (Hose clamps)
  • T15 Torx Bit (CRITICAL: For the MAF sensor screws)
  • Panel Popper / Trim Tool (Removing wire loom clips)
  • Phillips Screwdriver (Depending on the specific kit’s hardware)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
Two things kill this install on the 5.3L/6.2L engines. First, the factory PCV crankcase vent clips (grey or white clips on the valve covers) are extremely brittle due to heat cycling. Do not yank them; squeeze the tab gently to release or they will snap. Second, the MAF Sensor is incredibly sensitive to oil and debris. When transferring it, handle it only by the connector housing—never touch the sensor bulb or wire element.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Intake

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Start by isolating the electrical system. Use a 10mm socket to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. This resets the fuel trims and prevents accidental shorts.
  2. Disconnect the Sensor: Locate the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor on the factory air tube near the air box. Slide the red locking tab back, squeeze the connector, and pull gently to disconnect the harness. Use a panel popper to detach the wire loom clip from the air box lid so the harness is free.
  3. Remove PCV Breather Lines: On both the driver and passenger side valve covers, you will see the crankcase ventilation tubes connecting to the intake resonator. Gently squeeze the grey locking tabs and pull the tubes off the valve cover ports. Warning: These are the brittle clips mentioned above.
  4. Loosen the Clamps: Use an 8mm socket or flathead screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp at the throttle body and the clamp at the air box lid.
  5. Remove the Assembly: Lift the factory intake tube (with the large Helmholtz resonator "goiter") away from the engine. Then, rock the factory air box bottom back and forth to unseat it from the rubber fender grommets and pull it out of the vehicle.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for 2015-2019 GM 5.3L/6.2L

  1. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Using a T15 Torx bit, remove the two screws holding the MAF sensor into the factory pipe. Carefully transfer the sensor to the new Blue Intake tube. Secure it with the provided hardware. Note: Ensure the arrow on the sensor faces the direction of airflow (towards the engine).
  2. Install the Heat Shield: Place the new metal heat shield into the truck. Ensure the mounting prongs seat firmly into the factory rubber grommets on the inner fender well. If the kit uses a bolt, tighten it down with a 10mm socket.
  3. Position Couplers: Slide the silicone coupler onto the throttle body and secure it loosely with a hose clamp using your 8mm socket. Do not overtighten yet; you need wiggle room.
  4. Mount the Intake Tube: Lower the new Blue intake tube into position. Connect the filter side to the heat shield adaptor and the engine side to the throttle body coupler. Align the tube so it does not rub against the coolant lines or fan shroud.
  5. Connect Breather Hoses: Install the provided breather hoses from the new intake tube ports to the factory valve cover ports. Secure them with the provided clamps.
  6. Lock It Down: Once everything is aligned, tighten all hose clamps at the throttle body, filter, and breather lines using an 8mm socket. Reconnect the MAF sensor harness.
  7. Final Check & Idle Learn: Reconnect the negative battery terminal using a 10mm socket. Start the engine. Do not touch the gas pedal. Let the truck idle for 3 minutes so the ECU can relearn the airflow parameters for the increased volume. Check for any Check Engine Lights (CEL).

Disclaimer: This is a general guide provided for the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado/Suburban, and GMC Sierra/Yukon (5.3L and 6.2L variants). Always refer to your factory service manual for exact torque specifications and safety procedures.
