Additionally, the factory plastic housing is highly susceptible to heat soak, particularly in the EA113 and EA888 engine bays where radiant heat from the turbocharger quickly raises intake air temperatures (IATs). This thermal saturation forces the ECU to pull ignition timing to prevent knock, resulting in a measurable loss of power during spirited driving or track sessions.

The Engineering Solution

This intake system utilizes a 2.75" CNC mandrel-bent aluminum intake pipe to provide a smooth, consistent path for high-velocity airflow. By replacing the restrictive OEM components with an oversized, high-flow inverted cone filter, the engine gains access to a larger volume of oxygen-rich air. The system includes a dedicated air scoop that works in tandem with a sealed heat shield to force ambient air into the intake tract while isolating the filter from engine bay heat. To ensure factory-level reliability, the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor bung is precision-positioned to maintain correct fuel trims, preventing lean conditions or CELs.
