On the 1st Gen Tacoma 3RZ-FE engine, the vacuum lines connecting to the intake resonator and VSV (Vacuum Switching Valve) are notorious for dry-rotting. Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  5. Reconnect Battery and Perform Idle Re-Learn: Reconnect the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench. Start the vehicle: do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds upon initial crank.
