Unleash the hidden torque in your B15 Sentra and let that 2.5L engine finally breathe without the factory chokehold.

High-Flow Black Performance Cold Air Intake for 2002–2006 Nissan Sentra 2.5L (B15 QR25DE)

The 2.5L QR25DE engine in the B15 Sentra is known for its torque, but the factory induction system stifles its potential. Nissan designed the stock airbox with restrictive baffling and a silencer to keep the car quiet for the average commuter. Unfortunately, this creates a bottleneck that starves your engine of oxygen when you demand high-RPM power. This Black Performance intake replaces that ugly, corrugated plastic tubing with a streamlined aluminum path.

By removing the factory resonator box and "accordion" style hoses, you smooth out the airflow directly to the throttle body. This isn't just about peak horsepower numbers; it's about throttle response. This kit is specifically engineered for the 2.5L platform found in the SE-R and SE-R Spec V models. It fits the specific geometry of the B15 engine bay, ensuring the filter sits where it can grab cooler, denser air away from the exhaust manifold heat.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Sharper Throttle Response: Eliminates the turbulent airflow caused by stock corrugated rubber hoses, removing that "laggy" feeling when you step on the gas.
  • The "QR" Growl: Deletes the factory sound-deadening resonator, unlocking a deep, aggressive induction tone that lets you hear the engine work at Wide Open Throttle (WOT).
  • Cooler Intake Charge: The T304 aluminum piping dissipates heat faster than stock plastic, helping maintain air density for consistent combustion.
  • Top-End Power: Helps the 2.5L engine pull harder through the upper RPM range where the stock airbox usually causes the power curve to flatten out.

Installation & Fitment Notes

This kit is designed as a direct replacement for the OEM airbox assembly on 2.5L equipped Sentras (SE-R and Spec V). Installation is straightforward with standard hand tools. Crucial Step: You must disconnect the negative battery terminal for at least one minute after installation. This forces the ECU to reset and "re-learn" the new air-fuel ratios (AFR) for the increased airflow, preventing check engine lights and ensuring maximum performance immediately.

Get the power your Spec V deserves and ditch the restrictive factory plastic today.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 2/10 - Beginner friendly, basic hand tools needed.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm Socket & Ratchet (Battery, Mounting Bolts)
  • 8mm Socket or Flathead Screwdriver (Hose Clamps)
  • Phillips Screwdriver (MAF Sensor Transfer)
  • Needle Nose Pliers (Breather Hose Spring Clamps)
  • Extension Bar (For reaching lower airbox bolts)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor on the Nissan QR25DE engine is notoriously fragile. Do not touch the exposed wire or bulb with your fingers or a rag. Oil from your skin can ruin the sensor, causing rough idle or limp mode immediately upon startup. Handle it by the connector housing only.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Intake System

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Start by loosening the negative terminal with a 10mm wrench or socket. Tuck the cable aside to ensure the ECU resets while you work.
  2. Disconnect the Sensor & Hoses: Locate the MAF sensor plug on the intake tube. Press the tab and gently pull to disconnect the harness. Use pliers to pinch the spring clamp on the crankcase breather hose and slide it back, then pull the hose off the factory intake tube.
  3. Loosen the Clamps: Use an 8mm socket or flathead screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp connecting the intake tube to the throttle body. Do the same for the clamp near the airbox lid.
  4. Remove the Airbox: Remove the bolts securing the factory airbox to the chassis using a 10mm socket with an extension. You may need to give the bottom half of the box a firm tug to release it from the rubber grommets. Remove the entire assembly from the engine bay.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake

  1. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Using a Phillips screwdriver, carefully remove the two screws holding the MAF sensor into the factory housing. Gently pull it out and slide it into the new intake pipe. secure it with the supplied hardware. Do not over-tighten these small screws; the flange is plastic and will crack.
  2. Install the Throttle Body Coupler: Slide the silicone coupler onto the throttle body. loosely secure it with a hose clamp using your 8mm socket or flathead. Insert the new intake pipe into the coupler, but leave the clamps loose for adjustment.
  3. Connect the Breather Hose: Reconnect the crankcase breather hose to the nipple on the new intake pipe. secure it with the factory spring clamp using pliers.
  4. Mount the Filter & Finalize: Install the air filter onto the end of the pipe. align the pipe so it does not rub against the fender or brake lines. Once positioned correctly, tighten all hose clamps at the throttle body and filter until snug. Reconnect the MAF harness and the negative battery terminal.
