Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The factory Hitachi MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor connector on the WD21 1991-1995 Nissan Pathfinder 3.0L VG30E uses a delicate metal wire retaining clip. Decades of engine bay heat cycles make this plastic extremely brittle. Do not yank the harness; carefully pry the wire clip back with a small flat blade before unplugging. Additionally, take extreme care not to drop or touch the exposed hot-wire element inside the MAF housing during transfer.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  5. Separate the OEM MAF Sensor: Using a 10mm socket, remove the four bolts securing the aluminum Hitachi MAF sensor body to the factory plastic airbox lid. Set the MAF unit on a clean, soft surface.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake

  1. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Mate the factory 3.0L VG30E MAF sensor housing to the provided intake MAF adapter plate using the included hardware and gasket. Snug the fasteners down evenly using a 10mm socket to ensure an airtight seal without cracking the housing.
  2. Install Throttle Body Coupler & Intake Pipe: Slip the primary silicone coupler over the throttle body inlet and secure it loosely using an 8mm nut driver on the hose clamp.
