Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 4G platform’s 6G75 V6 engine bay generates massive under-hood heat, making the factory crankcase breather lines and the OEM MAF sensor harness clip extremely brittle. Do not yank the electrical connector; depress the locking tab gently with a flathead screwdriver while pulling from the connector base. When transferring the MAF sensor, inspect the rubber O-ring—pinching it during reassembly or overtightening the screws will cause unmetered air leaks and trigger immediate P0171/P0174 lean codes.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal on your 2006-2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse 3.8L using a 10mm wrench to reset fuel trims and prevent check engine lights.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake

  1. Transfer the Factory MAF Sensor: Insert the factory MAF sensor into the CNC-machined adapter plate on your new intake tube. Ensure the rubber O-ring seats flush without binding, and secure it using the supplied hardware and a #2 Phillips screwdriver. Do not overtighten.
  2. Mount the Throttle Body Coupler: Slide the silicone coupler onto the 2006-2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse 3.8L throttle body. Snug the clamp loosely using an 8mm nut driver so you can still adjust the angle.
  3. Position the Intake Pipe & Bracket: Feed the new intake pipe into the silicone coupler and align the welded mounting bracket with the factory chassis mounting point on the inner fender. Secure the bracket loosely using the OEM bolt and your 10mm socket.
  4. Install Air Filter & Connections: Slide the high-flow cone filter onto the end of the intake pipe and tighten the clamp with an 8mm nut driver.
