Upgrade your CLK320's breathing with a performance cold air intake engineered to deliver noticeable gains in power, throttle response, and that signature Mercedes sporty exhaust note—all in under an hour of installation.

Give Your CLK320 the Air It Deserves

The W208 CLK320 represents Mercedes-Benz's golden era of grand touring coupes—a time when V6 engines were smooth, interiors were plush, and the drive was all about refined performance. But let's be honest: the factory air intake system was designed for silence and emissions compliance, not for maximizing what that M112 V6 can really do.

This cold air intake system replaces your restrictive factory air box with a free-flowing T304 aluminum intake tube and high-performance washable filter. The result? More air reaches your engine, throttle response sharpens, and you'll notice improved acceleration when merging or passing. Plus, you'll hear that subtle but satisfying intake growl that reminds you there's a performance engine under the hood.

Key Features at a Glance

  • Power Gains You'll Feel: Engineered to boost horsepower and torque by up to 10%, giving your CLK320 a noticeable kick when you need it
  • Premium T304 Aluminum Construction: Lightweight, corrosion-resistant piping built to last in all weather conditions
  • High-Flow Filtration: Captures contaminants while maximizing airflow—no compromise between protection and performance
  • Enhanced Engine Sound: Experience a deeper, sportier intake note that complements the CLK's character without being obnoxious
  • Low Maintenance Design: Washable filter only needs cleaning every 50,000 miles under normal driving conditions

Installation & Fitment

This is a direct bolt-on upgrade designed for DIY enthusiasts. Using basic hand tools—screwdrivers and socket wrenches—you'll remove the factory air box and install this system in under 60 minutes. No cutting, drilling, or fabrication required. After installation, disconnect your battery terminal for a few seconds to allow your ECU to adapt to the increased airflow.

Built for Mercedes Durability

Constructed from T304 aluminum, this intake tube resists corrosion and heat soak while keeping weight minimal. The high-flow filter is engineered for exceptional filtration performance, protecting your M112 V6 from harmful debris while delivering maximum airflow. It's designed to withstand the engine bay conditions of your CLK320—heat, vibration, and daily driving demands.

Your Benefits Summary
  • Better Acceleration: Improved throttle response makes your CLK feel more eager and responsive
  • Cost Savings: Washable filter eliminates the need for repeated filter purchases
  • Refined Performance: Maintains Mercedes refinement while adding a touch of sportiness

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time for your Mercedes Benz E-Class 3.2L

  • Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 3/10 - Basic hand tools, but requires patience dealing with 20-year-old German engine bay plastics on the M112 V6.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm wrench or socket (for battery terminal)
  • 8mm nut driver or flathead screwdriver (for hose clamps)
  • T25 Torx bit (for the MAF sensor housing)
  • Panel popper (for removing factory harness clips)
  • Silicone spray or WD-40 (to lubricate stubborn rubber mounting grommets)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The M112 V6 engine in your Mercedes Benz E-Class 3.2L is notorious for two things: extremely brittle PCV breather hoses attached to the factory airbox, and a highly sensitive Bosch MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. If you yank the factory airbox up without carefully disconnecting the breather hoses first, they will snap instantly. Furthermore, when transferring the MAF sensor, never touch the exposed wire element inside the barrel. Even a smudge of oil from your finger will ruin it and cause rough idling.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and protect the ECU.
  2. Remove the Front Air Tubes: Unclip the two factory fabric/plastic cold air tubes from the radiator core support on your Mercedes Benz E-Class 3.2L. Pull them straight out of the factory airbox assembly.
  3. Disconnect the Breather Hose: Locate the PCV breather hose on the side of the airbox. Carefully squeeze the retaining clip and pull it free. If it is fused from heat cycles, use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry the edges. Do not force this step.
  4. Unplug the MAF Sensor: Locate the factory MAF sensor harness right before the throttle body. Squeeze the locking tabs and pull the connector straight back. Use a panel popper to free the wiring harness from any retaining clips attached to the airbox.
  5. Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Use your 8mm nut driver or flathead screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp securing the MAF housing to the engine’s throttle body.
  6. Extract the Airbox: The factory airbox is held down by rubber friction grommets on the valve covers. Grab the assembly firmly and pull straight up. If it fights you, spray a little silicone lubricant under the mounting posts to free them.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Mercedes Benz CLK320 (1998-2003) 3.2L Engine

  1. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Place the factory airbox on a clean workbench. Using your T25 Torx bit, carefully extract the MAF sensor element from the factory housing. Without touching the inner wire, insert it into the new aftermarket intake tube. Secure it using the provided hardware or factory Torx screws.
  2. Mount the Silicone Coupler: Slide the provided silicone coupler onto your throttle body. Slip two hose clamps over the coupler, and tighten the lower one down onto the throttle body using your 8mm nut driver.
  3. Install the Intake Tube: Press the new intake tube securely into the throttle body coupler. Align the mounting brackets with the factory rubber grommets on the engine. Once seated correctly, tighten the upper hose clamp with your 8mm nut driver.
  4. Reconnect the Systems: Push the factory PCV breather hose onto the designated aluminum nipple on your new intake tube. Next, plug the factory MAF wiring harness back into the sensor until you hear a solid click.
  5. Attach the Filter: Slide the high-flow conical filter onto the end of the intake tube. Tighten the filter clamp down securely using a flathead screwdriver. Ensure there is adequate clearance so the filter doesn’t rub against the ABS pump or chassis.
  6. The 20-Second Rule: Reconnect your negative battery terminal with the 10mm wrench. Start the vehicle, but do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. This gives the ECU time to read the new airflow metrics from the MAF sensor and adjust the idle accordingly.
