Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
If you are wrenching on a W204 chassis with the M272 engine, be warned: the factory fabric/plastic corrugated intake tubes suffer from severe dry rot. They will likely crumble in your hands. Do not let any plastic dust fall onto the serpentine belt or get sucked into the engine. Additionally, keep a magnetic pickup tool handy. The metal retaining spring clips holding the factory airbox love to snap off and vanish forever into the belly pan abyss.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and protect the ECU.
Remove the Engine Cover: Grip the front plastic engine cover firmly and pull straight up. It is held on by rubber grommets and will pop right off. Set it aside.
Extract the Factory Intake Ducts: Compress the notoriously brittle factory corrugated intake tubes and detach them from the front radiator core support. Use your panel popper if your specific trim has plastic retaining rivets at the scoop ends.
Unclip the Airbox Assembly: Locate the metal retaining clips securing the factory airbox housing to the engine. Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry them loose, keeping a hand over them so they don’t launch into the engine bay. Pull the airbox assembly straight up and off the throttle body.
Disconnect the MAF Sensor: Locate the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor at the rear center of the intake assembly. Slide the grey locking tab back and unplug the electrical harness. Using a T25 Torx bit, carefully unbolt the MAF sensor housing from the factory setup.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Mercedes Benz C300 C350 (2008-2012) 3.0L 3.5L Engines

Transfer the MAF Sensor: This is the most critical step for your 2008-2012 Mercedes Benz C-Class 3.0L 3.5L. Move the factory MAF sensor into the new aftermarket intake tube. Secure it using the provided hardware or your factory T25 Torx bolts. DO NOT touch the internal wire element with your bare hands, or you will ruin it instantly.
Mount the Heat Shields: Position the new aftermarket heat shields or lower airbox into the engine bay. Align it with the factory mounting points and tighten it down snugly using a 10mm socket and ratchet.
Route the Silicone Couplers: Slide the provided silicone couplers over the throttle body and secure them loosely. Insert your new intake pipes into the couplers and tighten all hose clamps securely with an 8mm nut driver. Do not overtighten and crush the piping.
Install Filters and Reconnect Wiring: Mount the high-flow cone filters onto the ends of the intake pipes, tightening them down with your 8mm nut driver. Plug the factory wiring harness back into the MAF sensor until you hear the locking tab click securely.
The ECU Relearn Protocol: Reconnect the negative battery terminal with your 10mm wrench. Start the vehicle. DO NOT touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. Let the 2008-2012 Mercedes Benz C-Class 3.0L 3.5L idle so the ECU can adapt to the massive increase in airflow volume without throwing a CEL.
