Performance Cold Air Intake Induction Kit for 2011–2015 Hyundai Veloster 1.6L – Enhanced Boost & Induction Efficiency

Unlock your Veloster's true potential and performance by eliminating the bottlenecks of the factory induction system. Designed to complement the bold, unconventional styling of your 1.6L 4-cylinder engine, this high-flow system is engineered to transform how your vehicle breathes. By replacing the restrictive stock air box with a streamlined path for oxygen-rich air, you allow your engine to draw in a cooler, denser charge from outside the engine bay. This optimizes combustion efficiency, providing your Hyundai with a noticeable increase in horsepower and a much sharper response whenever you engage the throttle.

Experience a more dynamic drive as your engine gains the airflow it needs to thrive under load. Whether you are navigating tight city corners or merging onto the highway, this upgrade ensures the power is available the moment you need it. The reduced air resistance not only improves mid-range torque by up to 10% but also introduces a deeper, more aggressive induction note that perfectly reflects the sporty character of the Veloster.

Vehicle Fitment

  • 2011–2015 Hyundai Veloster
  • Engine: 1.6L 4-Cylinder

Key Features

  • Optimized Airflow: Streamlined piping for better induction efficiency.
  • Power Gains: Boosts horsepower and torque by up to 10%.
  • Premium Construction: Made with T304 lightweight aluminum piping.
  • Enhanced Response: Eliminates lag for a direct pedal feel.
  • Thermal Management: Shield blocks engine bay heat to maintain air density.

What's Included

  • T304 Aluminum intake tube
  • High-flow air filter
  • Application-specific heat shield
  • Heavy-duty couplers and clamps
  • All mounting hardware

Installation Tip

Always unplug the car battery's negative ground cable before installing this product. To ensure your Veloster's ECU accurately adjusts to the increased airflow, leave it disconnected for at least 60 seconds during the process. This allows the system to recalibrate to the new induction parameters for immediate performance gains. Always perform the installation on a completely cool engine.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 60-90 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 4/10 - Requires wheel removal and navigating blind spots for the factory resonator.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm and 12mm sockets with a 6-inch extension
  • 10mm wrench
  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Panel popper tool (for factory plastic clips)
  • Needle-nose pliers (for hose spring clamps)
  • Jack, jack stands, and lug nut socket (for wheel removal)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The NAV (Naturally Aspirated Veloster) community knows the biggest headache of this install isn’t the new piping—it’s the massive factory intake silencer buried in the driver’s side fender. Don’t try to rip it out from the top engine bay. The forum consensus fix is to jack up the driver’s side, remove the wheel, and peel back the plastic splash guard. Also, buy a cheap pack of replacement plastic push-clips beforehand; the OEM clips are incredibly brittle and will likely snap during removal.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights on your 2011-2015 Hyundai Veloster 1.6L.
  2. Unplug Sensors and Hoses: Carefully disconnect the PCV breather hose attached to the factory intake tube. Use needle-nose pliers to pinch and slide back the spring clamp. Unplug the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor harness by pressing the tab. Never pull directly from the wires!
  3. Remove the Upper Airbox: Use a 10mm socket to unbolt the factory upper airbox. Use a Phillips screwdriver (or 10mm socket) to loosen the band clamp at the throttle body. Pull the upper intake assembly free from the engine bay.
  4. Access the Fender Well: Safely jack up the front-left of the vehicle, secure with a jack stand, and remove the driver’s side wheel. Use a panel popper to remove the plastic retaining clips holding the inner fender liner. Peel the liner back to expose the hidden lower OEM resonator box.
  5. Extract the Resonator: Use a 10mm socket with a 6-inch extension to unbolt the lower resonator box from the chassis. Wiggle the massive plastic unit out through the wheel well cavity.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Hyundai Veloster (2011-2015) 1.6L Engine

  1. Prep the Throttle Body: Slip the new silicone step-up coupler onto the factory throttle body. Loosely install the provided hose clamps, tightening the throttle body side snugly with an 8mm socket or flathead screwdriver.
  2. Transfer the Factory Sensors: Carefully twist and pull the IAT sensor from the OEM intake. Seat the sensor into the pre-drilled rubber grommet on your new Cold Air Intake pipe. Push firmly but gently to avoid cracking the plastic sensor housing.
  3. Route and Mount the New Pipe: Feed the new intake pipe down into the fender well cavity (where the old resonator lived). Align the upper end into the silicone coupler at the throttle body. Secure the pipe’s welded mounting bracket to the factory chassis mounting point using a 10mm socket. Tighten down the upper hose clamp.
  4. Install the Pod Filter: Working from inside the wheel well, slide the high-flow pod filter onto the bottom of the intake pipe. Tighten the filter’s band clamp securely using an 8mm socket. Reinstall your fender liner clips and mount the wheel.
  5. Final Hookups and Start-Up: Reconnect the PCV breather hose to the welded nipple on the new pipe and plug in the IAT sensor harness. Finally, reconnect the negative battery terminal. Start the engine, but DO NOT touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. This allows the 2011-2015 Hyundai Veloster 1.6L ECU to adapt its idle to the increased airflow volume.
