Tired of your Honda Civic Si feeling a bit breathless at higher RPMs? Imagine crisp, immediate throttle response and a deeper, more aggressive engine note every time you hit the gas with a true performance upgrade.

Performance Cold Air Intake for Honda Civic Si (2.4L K24Z7)

Unlock the full potential of your 2012-2015 Honda Civic Si’s 2.4L K24Z7 engine with this high-flow cold air intake system. The factory air box and its restrictive pleated paper filter are significant bottlenecks, limiting the engine’s ability to breathe freely and hindering its true performance capabilities. This stock setup starves your K24Z7, leading to a "laggy" throttle and a suppressed power band.

Our meticulously engineered cold air intake directly addresses these limitations by replacing the entire restrictive factory assembly with a streamlined, wide-diameter induction path. Designed to draw in a larger volume of cooler, denser air from outside the engine bay, this system ensures your K24Z7 engine receives an optimal oxygen supply. The result is a more energetic combustion cycle, providing not just peak horsepower and torque gains, but also sharper throttle sensitivity and noticeably more fluid acceleration across the entire RPM range, transforming your Civic Si’s driving experience.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Substantial Power Boost: Increases horsepower and torque, delivering a noticeable gain that translates into stronger acceleration and improved overall vehicle performance for your Honda Civic Si.
  • Unrestricted Airflow: Replaces narrow factory ducting with a high-flow pathway, satisfying the engine’s demand for air and maximizing the efficiency of your 2.4L K24Z7 engine.
  • Instant Throttle Response: Eliminates the "laggy" feeling associated with the stock intake, providing more immediate power delivery and sharper, more engaging acceleration.
  • Optimized Fuel Efficiency: By ensuring a more consistent supply of cool, dense air, this intake helps balance air-to-fuel ratios for a more effective burn and potentially improved fuel economy during normal driving.
  • Aggressive Induction Sound: Enhances your Civic Si’s acoustic character, providing a powerful, sporty intake growl under acceleration that truly matches its performance aspirations.
  • Durable & Reliable Construction: Built with premium, heat-resistant materials to resist corrosion and ensure long-term performance reliability and structural integrity, even under aggressive driving conditions.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 60-90 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 4/10 - You’ll be wrestling the 9th Gen factory fender resonator, which requires peeling back the fender liner or temporarily unbolting the front bumper.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm deep socket and 3/8" ratchet
  • 8mm nut driver or socket (for worm gear clamps)
  • #2 Philips screwdriver (for factory MAF screws)
  • Panel popper tool (for Honda plastic push-clips)
  • Needle-nose pliers (for breather hose spring clamps)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The FB6/FG4 chassis has a massive factory intake resonator buried in the lower driver’s side bumper. Don’t try to force it out from the top engine bay opening. Save yourself the headache and use your panel popper to remove the driver’s side fender liner clips, or pull the front bumper entirely. Also, the factory MAF sensor screws are notoriously soft—apply firm downward pressure so you don’t strip them!

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part from your 2012-2015 Honda Civic 2.4L

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and protect the ECU on your 2012-2015 Honda Civic 2.4L.
  2. Unplug the MAF Sensor: Locate the Mass Airflow Sensor on the factory airbox. Press the release tab and pull the harness plug straight out. Unclip the wire loom from the plastic box.
  3. Remove the Breather Hose: Use needle-nose pliers to squeeze the metal spring clamp on the PCV breather hose attached to the factory rubber intake boot. Slide the clamp back and pull the hose free.
  4. Extract the Upper Airbox: Use an 8mm nut driver to loosen the hose clamp holding the factory rubber boot to the K24Z7 throttle body. Unclip the upper airbox lid and remove the lid, hose, and paper filter assembly from the engine bay.
  5. Evict the Lower Resonator: Safely jack up the driver’s side front of the car. Remove the plastic push-clips from the inner fender liner using your panel popper tool. Peel the liner back to expose the massive U-shaped factory resonator. Unbolt it using your 10mm socket and remove the entire plastic assembly through the wheel well.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Honda Civic Si (2012-2015) Engine - Black

  1. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Using your #2 Philips screwdriver, carefully remove the two screws holding the factory MAF sensor. Pull it out slowly—do not touch the delicate amber element or let it get dirty! Install it into your new Cold Air Intake pipe using the supplied aftermarket hardware (usually requiring a standard metric Allen wrench).
  2. Prep the Throttle Body: Slide the new silicone reducer coupler onto the throttle body. Secure the throttle body side with a supplied hose clamp and tighten it down with your 8mm nut driver. Leave the pipe-side clamp loose for now.
  3. Route the New Intake Pipe: Carefully feed the black intake pipe down through the engine bay opening into the fender well area. Slide the top end into the silicone coupler at the throttle body. If your kit includes a vibration isolation mount, line it up with the factory chassis bracket and secure it using a 10mm socket. Tighten down the upper hose clamp.
  4. Install the Filter & Reconnect: Down in the fender well, slide the new high-flow cone filter onto the end of the intake pipe and tighten the clamp with your 8mm nut driver. Up top, plug the MAF sensor harness back in until it clicks, and push the factory breather hose onto the welded pipe nipple, securing it with the original spring clamp using your needle-nose pliers.
  5. ECU Relearn Process: Button up your fender liner and lower the car. Reconnect the negative battery terminal with your 10mm wrench. Start the engine, but do not touch the gas pedal for 20 seconds until the ECU adjusts to the new high-volume airflow. Let it idle until it reaches normal operating temperature before taking it for a test drive.
