Tired of that subdued factory feeling? Unleash the raw potential of your Honda Civic Si and feel the immediate surge of power and responsiveness your K24Z7 engine was always meant to deliver.

Performance Cold Air Intake for Honda Civic Si (2012-2015) 2.4L (K24Z7) Engine - Blue

The stock air intake system on your 2012-2015 Honda Civic Si with the 2.4L K24Z7 engine is designed with quiet operation and cost-effectiveness in mind, often sacrificing optimal airflow. Its restrictive bends, narrow piping, and inefficient paper filter choke your engine’s ability to breathe, limiting horsepower, torque, and throttle response.

This high-flow cold air intake system completely re-engineers your Civic Si’s induction path, replacing the factory’s limitations with a streamlined, wider-diameter tube and a high-efficiency performance air filter. By delivering a significantly larger volume of cooler, denser air directly to your engine, this upgrade ensures more complete combustion, unlocking latent power and providing a much more engaging driving experience.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Enhanced Horsepower & Torque: Enjoy measurable gains across the RPM range, making your Civic Si feel more powerful and responsive in every driving scenario.
  • Sharper Throttle Response: Eliminate frustrating throttle lag and experience instantaneous power delivery, perfect for spirited driving and confident overtakes.
  • Optimized Airflow & Efficiency: A less restrictive design allows your K24Z7 engine to draw in air with greater ease, leading to improved combustion and potentially better fuel efficiency.
  • Aggressive Induction Sound: Amplify your Si’s character with a deeper, more pronounced intake growl under acceleration, adding to the sporty feel.
  • Durable & Long-Lasting Construction: Crafted from high-grade materials, this intake is built to withstand engine bay temperatures and road conditions, ensuring reliable performance for years to come.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time for your 2012-2015 Honda Civic 2.4L

  • Estimated Time: 60-90 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 4/10 - Ripping out the factory K24Z7 intake is easy, but wrestling the lower resonator box out of the driver’s side fender well requires patience and blind wrenching.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm and 12mm sockets (with a 6-inch extension)
  • 8mm socket or nut driver (for worm-gear and T-bolt clamps)
  • Phillips #2 screwdriver (a strict JIS bit is even better for Honda factory screws)
  • Panel popper tool (for plastic push-clips)
  • Needle-nose pliers (for factory spring clamps on breather hoses)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 9th Gen Civic (FB6/FG4) community universally agrees on two major headaches here. First, the factory Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor screws are made of absolute butter. Do NOT use a worn-out screwdriver or you will strip them. Use firm downward pressure with a crisp Phillips #2. Second, the factory lower resonator is hidden behind the driver’s side bumper. You must use a panel popper to carefully peel back the wheel well liner. Those factory plastic clips are brittle; pry them straight out to avoid snapping the heads off.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part from your 2012-2015 Honda Civic 2.4L

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench. This prevents check engine lights and allows the K24Z7 ECU to reset its fuel trims.
  2. Unplug the MAF Sensor: Locate the MAF sensor on the top of the factory airbox. Slide the red locking tab back, press down on the clip, and gently unplug the harness. Tuck it safely out of the way.
  3. Remove the Upper Airbox and Hose: Loosen the hose clamp at the throttle body using an 8mm socket or Phillips screwdriver. Use needle-nose pliers to pinch and remove the factory PCV breather hose from the intake tube. Unclip the upper airbox lid and pull the entire rubber hose and upper box assembly out of the engine bay.
  4. Extract the Lower Airbox Housing: Remove the two 10mm bolts holding the lower half of the factory airbox to the chassis. Pull the box straight up to pop it off its rubber mounting grommets.
  5. Delete the Bumper Resonator (The Fun Part): Turn your steering wheel all the way to the right. Use your panel popper to remove the 3 to 4 plastic push-clips securing the driver’s side inner fender liner. Peel the liner back to expose the massive plastic resonator box. Use a 10mm socket with an extension to remove the mounting bolts hidden up in the frame rail, then wrestle the box out of the bumper cavity.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Honda Civic Si (2012-2015) 2.4L Engine - Blue

  1. Prep the Silicone Coupler: Slide the provided silicone step-down coupler onto your factory throttle body. Secure it loosely by tightening the supplied clamp with an 8mm socket. Do not fully tighten yet to allow for pipe adjustment.
  2. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Carefully remove the MAF sensor from the factory airbox using a Phillips #2. CRITICAL: Do not touch the amber glass bulb inside the sensor; oils from your skin will ruin it. Slide the MAF into the machined billet housing on your new blue Cold Air Intake pipe and secure it using the provided aftermarket Allen bolts.
  3. Route the New Piping: Feed the lower section of the new blue intake pipe down through the hole in the engine bay into the inner fender area where the old resonator used to live. Connect the upper section to the throttle body coupler. Fasten the two pipe halves together using the supplied silicone hump hose and clamps.
  4. Mount the Cold Air Filter: Pull back the fender liner again and slide the high-flow conical filter onto the bottom of the intake pipe. Tighten the filter clamp firmly with an 8mm socket. Ensure the filter isn’t rubbing against the fog light housing or the metal fender walls.
  5. Secure and Reconnect: Bolt the intake pipe’s welded bracket to the factory rubber chassis mount using a 10mm socket. Reconnect the PCV breather hose to the nipple on the new pipe. Finally, plug the MAF sensor harness back in and lock the red tab.
  6. The ECU Relearn Procedure: Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Start the engine and do not touch the gas pedal for 20 seconds. Let the car idle completely untouched so the ECU can calibrate to the increased airflow of the new cold air system. Check for any whistling sounds indicating a vacuum leak, then reinstall your fender liner clips.
