You’re tired of your Honda Civic feeling sluggish, struggling to breathe through its restrictive factory airbox. Imagine a crisp throttle response and a satisfying growl under acceleration, transforming your daily commute into an engaging drive.
Performance Cold Air Intake for Honda Civic EX/LX/DX (2006-2011) (1.8L R18A1 Engine)
The factory intake system on your 2006-2011 Honda Civic 1.8L is engineered for quiet operation and cost-efficiency, not peak performance. Its convoluted plastic tubing and restrictive paper filter choke your R18A1 engine, limiting its ability to ingest the cool, dense air it craves for optimal combustion and power output.
Our high-flow cold air intake replaces these bottlenecks with a mandrel-bent T304 lightweight aluminum pipe and a high-efficiency washable air filter. This direct path delivers a significantly larger volume of cooler, oxygen-rich air directly to your engine, resulting in sharper throttle response, improved mid-range torque, and a noticeable increase in horsepower, transforming your Civic’s driving dynamics.
Why You Need This Upgrade
- Durable, Lightweight Performance: Crafted with premium T304 aluminum, ensuring maximum durability, superior heat dissipation, and reduced overall weight.
- Up to 10% HP/TQ Gains: Optimizes air-to-fuel ratio and airflow to deliver a noticeable boost in both horsepower and torque.
- Superior Engine Protection: Engineered with a high-flow, washable filter to provide exceptional filtration against contaminants while maximizing air volume.
- Instant Power Delivery: Reduces intake lag for immediate throttle response, ensuring power is delivered the moment you demand it.
- Hassle-Free Installation: Designed for a direct bolt-on fit within the 8th Gen Civic engine bay, utilizing existing mounting points for a straightforward setup.

Installation & Tools
Installation & Tools
The Wrench Time
- Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
- Difficulty: 3/10 - Beginner friendly, but requires delicate sensor handling.
Tools You Will Need
- 10mm Socket and Ratchet (The Honda essential)
- Long Extension (6-inch minimum for reaching lower airbox bolts)
- Phillips Head Screwdriver (For factory clamps and MAF sensor)
- Flathead Screwdriver or 8mm Nut Driver (For new T-bolt/worm clamps)
- Needle-Nose Pliers (For the spring tension clamp on the breather hose)
- Panel Popper Tool or Flathead (To unclip the wiring harness from the airbox)
The Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor on the 8th Gen Civic is notoriously sensitive. When transferring it from the stock box to the new pipe, do not touch the sensor bulb/wire with your bare fingers. Oils from your skin can cause incorrect readings and throw a CEL (Check Engine Light). Also, ensure the rubber O-ring is seated perfectly; a vacuum leak here will cause a rough idle immediately.
Phase 1: Removing the Factory Airbox
- Disconnect the Battery: Safety first. Use a 10mm wrench or socket to disconnect the negative terminal. This also resets the ECU, prepping it to learn the increased airflow of your new 2006-2011 Honda Civic 1.8L intake.
- Disconnect the MAF Sensor: Locate the sensor on the top of the factory airbox. Depress the tab and pull the plug. Crucial: The wiring harness is anchored to the airbox with a plastic clip. Use a panel popper or flathead screwdriver to pry this anchor loose so the wire hangs free. Do not just yank on the wire.
- Remove the Breather Hose: Locate the rubber ventilation hose connecting the valve cover to the intake tube. Use needle-nose pliers to pinch the spring clamp and slide it back, then wiggle the hose off the intake nipple.
- Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Use a Phillips screwdriver or 10mm socket to loosen the clamp connecting the factory rubber tube to the throttle body. Give the tube a twist to break the seal.
- Extract the Airbox: There are typically two 10mm bolts holding the upper airbox assembly down. Remove them. Lift the assembly out of the engine bay. Note: For a short ram setup, you are done. If you are removing the lower resonator box (in the fender) for a true cold air feed, you will need to jack up the car and remove the driver-side splash shield to access the lower bolts.
Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Honda Civic EX/LX/DX
- Install the Throttle Body Coupler: Slide the new silicone reducer coupler onto the throttle body. Secure it with the provided hose clamp using an 8mm nut driver or flathead. Do not overtighten yet; leave it snug so you can adjust the angle.
- Transfer the MAF Sensor: Remove the MAF sensor from the old airbox using a screwdriver. Carefully insert it into the machined slot on your new Red Intake Pipe. Use the supplied hardware to secure it. Warning: Ensure the sensor is facing the correct direction (the open side of the bulb usually faces the incoming airflow).
- Mount the Intake Pipe: Slide the pipe into the throttle body coupler. Rotate it so it sits free of the battery and other engine components to prevent rattling. Connect the vibration mount bracket to the factory mounting point on the chassis using the original 10mm bolt.
- Reconnect Hoses and Filter: Reattach the valve cover breather hose to the nipple on the new pipe (reuse the spring clamp). Install the air filter onto the end of the pipe and tighten the clamp with your flathead screwdriver.
- Final Check & Relearn: Double-check all clamps are tight and the MAF sensor is plugged back in. Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Start the engine and let it idle for 10-15 minutes without touching the gas pedal. This allows the R18 ECU to recalibrate for the new air volume.
Disclaimer: This is a general guide provided for the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 Honda Civic 1.8L. Always refer to your factory service manual for exact torque specifications and safety procedures.
