Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
On the 1996-2000 Honda Civic CX/DX/LX, the D16Y7 engine uses a downdraft throttle body covered by a massive plastic factory airbox (known in the EK community as the "turtle shell"). Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

Install the rubber vibra-mount (to prevent the pipe from cracking under engine torque) and bolt it down using a 10mm socket. Now, fully tighten the throttle body hose clamp with your 8mm socket.
  5. Install the Filter and Hoses: From underneath the bumper/fender well, slide the high-flow cone filter onto the bottom of the intake pipe. Secure its clamp with an 8mm socket. Back in the engine bay, reconnect the IAT sensor harness plug. Finally, install the new provided silicone breather hose from the valve cover port to the welded nipple on the intake pipe.
  6. ECU Relearn Protocol: Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Start the 1996-2000 Honda Civic 1.6L engine. Do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. Let the vehicle idle so the ECU can read the new IAT data and adjust the air/fuel trims for the increased airflow.
