Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part from your 1998-2002 Honda Accord 2.3L

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and reset the ECU’s fuel trims.
  2. Unplug the IAT Sensor: Locate the IAT sensor on the factory rubber intake tube. Press the release tab and pull the harness connector off, then gently twist and pull the sensor body out of the rubber grommet. Set it aside in a safe, clean spot.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake

  1. Prep the Throttle Body: Wipe the throttle body lip clean with a rag. Slide the new silicone transition coupler onto the throttle body and secure it loosely with the provided worm or T-bolt clamp using an 8mm nut driver.
  2. Transfer the IAT Sensor: Find the pre-drilled hole on your new aluminum intake pipe. Insert the provided rubber grommet. Add a drop of silicone spray to the grommet, and carefully push your factory IAT sensor into the hole until it seats flush. Do not force it.

  5. Install the Filter and Lines: Working from the wheel well, slide the conical air filter onto the bottom of the intake pipe and crank down the clamp with your 8mm nut driver. Connect the new silicone breather hose from the intake pipe fitting to the valve cover port. Plug the IAT sensor harness back in until it clicks.
  6. Tighten Down and Relearn: Double-check all clamps, brackets, and connections. Reinstall your fender liner clips. Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Start the vehicle and let it idle. Do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds—this allows the 1998-2002 ECU to establish a new baseline idle with the increased airflow.
