Tired of your Honda Accord feeling sluggish off the line or struggling to breathe at highway speeds? Experience the immediate gratification of improved throttle response and a more aggressive engine note with this essential performance upgrade.

Performance Cold Air Intake for Honda Accord (2.4L K24Z2/K24Z3)

The factory air intake system on your 2008-2012 Honda Accord 2.4L was designed with noise reduction and economy in mind, often at the expense of true performance. Its restrictive bends, corrugated tubing, and small airbox create significant bottlenecks, preventing your K24Z2 or K24Z3 engine from ingesting the cool, dense air it needs to produce maximum power, especially during demanding driving conditions like merging onto the highway or passing.

Our precision-engineered Cold Air Intake system directly addresses these limitations by replacing the entire restrictive OEM setup with a streamlined, high-flow pathway. By drawing cooler, denser air from outside the engine bay and routing it efficiently through a high-performance filter and smooth, wide-diameter piping, this upgrade dramatically improves volumetric efficiency. This means your 2.4L engine can breathe freely, translating directly into enhanced throttle response, a noticeable boost in horsepower and torque, and a more engaging driving experience.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Increased Horsepower & Torque: Unlock hidden power by supplying your engine with a greater volume of cooler, oxygen-rich air for more efficient combustion.
  • Sharper Throttle Response: Eliminate intake lag and experience immediate, crisp acceleration every time you hit the gas pedal.
  • Improved Engine Sound: Enjoy a deeper, more aggressive induction roar under acceleration, giving your Accord a sportier feel.
  • Optimized Airflow Efficiency: Smooth, wide-diameter piping reduces turbulence and ensures consistent, high-velocity airflow directly to your throttle body.
  • Superior Filtration: Protect your engine from harmful contaminants with an advanced high-flow air filter designed for maximum debris capture and minimal restriction.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 60-90 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 4/10 - Requires working inside the fender well and safely transferring sensitive electronics.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm deep socket and ratchet (with a 6-inch extension)
  • 8mm socket or nut driver
  • #2 Phillips screwdriver (or JIS standard)
  • Panel popper (plastic push-clip removal tool)
  • Pliers (for spring clamps)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 8th Gen Accord forum community will tell you right away: the massive factory intake resonator is buried deep inside the driver’s side lower bumper. Many DIYers waste time removing the entire front bumper to get to it. Save yourself the headache. Just turn your steering wheel all the way to the right, use your panel popper to pull the front half of the driver’s side fender liner back, and access the hidden 10mm bolt holding the resonator. Furthermore, the factory Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor screws are notoriously soft. Put direct downward pressure on your #2 Phillips screwdriver so you don’t strip them.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part from your 2008-2012 Honda Accord 2.4L

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench or socket to prevent check engine lights and protect the ECU.
  2. Unplug the MAF Sensor: Locate the MAF sensor on the factory airbox tube. Depress the plastic tab and gently pull the harness connector straight back. Tuck the wiring harness safely out of the way.
  3. Disconnect Hoses and Clamps: Use your pliers to squeeze the spring clamp on the PCV breather hose and pull it off the intake tube. Next, use an 8mm socket to loosen the band clamp securing the factory rubber hose to the throttle body.
  4. Remove the Upper and Lower Airbox: Unbolt the two 10mm bolts securing the lower airbox to the chassis. Pull the entire upper and lower factory airbox assembly out of the engine bay.
  5. Extract the Factory Resonator: Peel back the driver’s side fender liner using a panel popper to remove the push-clips. Reach up inside the bumper cavity with a 10mm socket and extension to remove the single bolt holding the large plastic resonator box. Pull the resonator down and out of the vehicle.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Honda Accord (2008-2012) 2.4L Engine

  1. Mount the Throttle Body Coupler: Slide the provided silicone step-coupler onto the intake manifold throttle body. Slide two band clamps over the coupler, but only tighten the throttle body side right now using an 8mm socket.
  2. Transfer the MAF Sensor (CRITICAL): Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, carefully remove the two screws holding the factory MAF sensor in the OEM housing. Gently twist and pull the sensor out. Do not touch the internal sensor wires. Push the sensor into the machined port on your new Cold Air Intake tube and secure it using the provided aftermarket Allen bolts.
  3. Position the New Intake Tube: Feed the lower end of the new aluminum intake pipe down through the hole in the engine bay into the fender well area where the factory resonator used to sit. Slide the top end into the silicone coupler at the throttle body.
  4. Secure the Bracket and Filter: Align the welded bracket on the new intake pipe with the factory chassis mounting hole. Install the provided vibration mount and tighten with a 10mm socket. Move into the fender well, push the new high-flow pod filter onto the end of the pipe, and lock it down tight with an 8mm socket. Reinstall your fender liner clips.
  5. Final Connections and Relearn Protocol: Attach the PCV breather hose to the nipple on the new intake pipe. Plug the factory wiring harness back into the MAF sensor until it clicks. Reconnect your negative battery terminal. Start the engine and let it idle. Do not touch the gas pedal for 20 seconds. This allows the 8th Gen K24 ECU to relearn the new air volume and adjust long-term fuel trims properly without throwing a code.
