Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
On this GM K2XX platform, the Crankcase Vent (CCV) lines connecting to the intake tube utilize fragile plastic quick-connect fittings with grey locking tabs. DO NOT PRY THEM. You must squeeze the grey tab to release. If you muscle it, the plastic will snap, and you will be making an emergency trip to the dealer for new breather lines.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Intake

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Before touching any sensors on your 2014-2018 GMC Sierra 4.3L, use a 10mm wrench/socket to disconnect the negative battery terminal. This resets the fuel trim strategy and prevents shorting the sensitive MAF sensor.
  2. Disconnect the CCV Lines: Locate the two plastic breather hoses attached to the stock intake resonator box. Squeeze the grey locking tabs and gently pull them free.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for GMC Sierra (2014-2018) 4.3L V6 Engine Blue

  1. Assemble the Heat Shield: Install the provided weather stripping along the top edge of the new heat shield. This seals against the hood to block engine bay heat. Secure the shield to the factory mounting points using the provided hardware and a 10mm socket.
  2. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Insert your factory MAF sensor into the adapter on the new Blue Intake Tube. PAY ATTENTION TO FLOW DIRECTION: The sensor bulb should face the incoming air (filter side).   5. Final Check & Start-Up: Install the high-flow air filter onto the tube inside the heat shield and tighten the 8mm hose clamp. Reconnect the MAF harness and the negative battery terminal.
