Sport Air Intake System for Cadillac Seville SLS / STS 4.6L V8 – Better Throttle Response, HP & Torque

Personalized to unlock the hidden performance of your Cadillac's engine, this induction system focuses on giving you more total output. Custom-built for the 4.6L V8 Northstar engine, this kit replaces the restrictive factory air box and intake tube that often limits your vehicle's potential. Whether you are keeping things stock or looking to improve your power, this performance upgrade provides a smooth path for air to reach the engine, leading to a more assertive and capable driving experience.

Standard intake parts are often designed for silence, creating internal blocks that limit the engine's air supply. By utilizing lightweight T-304 aluminum piping to pull in a larger volume of cooler, dense air, this system removes those barriers. This ensures that the engine works more effectively, leading to faster acceleration and a boost in power for your daily driving.

Key Features

  • Output Gain: Engineered to boost horsepower and torque by up to 10% for a noticeable increase in performance.
  • Premium Construction: Intake pipe made from lightweight T-304 aluminum for durability and heat resistance.
  • Open Induction: Replaces narrow factory parts with a high-flow pathway to satisfy the engine’s demand for air.
  • Refined Acceleration: Removes the slow feeling of the stock intake for faster acceleration when you step on the gas.
  • Efficiency Optimization: Balances air-to-fuel ratios for a more effective burn and better fuel use.
  • Sporty Sound: Enhances the vehicle's sound with a deeper intake growl during acceleration.
  • Durable Build: Built with premium materials to resist corrosion and ensure long-term reliability.

Vehicle Fitment

This system is designed for the 1998–2004 Cadillac Seville SLS and STS models equipped with the 4.6L V8 engine.

Product Specifications

Disconnect the NEGATIVE GROUND CABLE from the battery before starting the installation and keep it off for at least one minute after you finish. This reset allows the engine's computer to learn the new airflow induction settings. Ensure the engine is completely cool before beginning work.

Performance Cold Air Intake System with Heat Shield – Improved Torque for 2007–2009 GM V8 Engines

Upgrade your truck or SUV’s performance with a cold air intake system engineered to improve airflow, throttle response, and overall driving enjoyment. Designed specifically for select GM full-size vehicles equipped with 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, and 6.2L V8 engines, this intake replaces the restrictive factory air box with a free-flowing system that helps your engine breathe more efficiently.

Standard intake assemblies prioritize quiet operation over raw efficiency, creating internal turbulence that starves the engine of power. By drawing in cooler, denser air and isolating it from engine heat using an integrated heat shield, this system helps unlock measurable gains in horsepower and torque—up to 10% under optimal conditions. The result is quicker acceleration, smoother power, and a noticeably deeper, more aggressive engine sound when you step on the throttle.

Key Features & Performance Benefits

  • Power Gains: Increases horsepower and torque by up to 10%, providing a significant boost for the 5.3L V8 and other GM powerplants during towing or highway passing.
  • Thermal Isolation: The integrated heat shield protects the air filter from hot engine bay temperatures, ensuring a cooler air charge for maximum combustion efficiency.
  • Durable Construction: Built with high-quality induction piping designed to withstand high-heat environments and maintain consistent airflow velocity.
  • Enhanced Sound: Provides a more authoritative and mechanical engine growl during hard acceleration, letting your V8 roar.
  • Optimized Filtration: High-flow filter media blocks harmful contaminants while maintaining the high-volume air requirements of large displacement engines.
  • Efficient Driving: Improved air intake characteristics often result in sharper throttle sensitivity and overall engine responsiveness.

Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
If you frequent the GMT900 / NNBS forums, you know the factory PCV breather tube connector is notoriously brittle after years of soaking up under-hood heat. When disconnecting it from the factory resonator, push the grey release tab gently and wiggle—do not force it or it will snap. Secondly, your Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is incredibly sensitive. A dirty or damaged MAF will immediately throw a Lean code and put the truck in limp mode. Never touch the exposed wire elements inside the sensor.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm socket or wrench to prevent check engine lights and allow the ECU to reset for the new airflow dynamics.
  2. Unplug the MAF Sensor: Locate the MAF sensor on the factory airbox tube. Slide the red locking tab back, press the clip, and unplug the harness. Use a panel popper to pry the plastic harness retaining clip off the airbox so the wire hangs free.
  3. Remove the Factory PCV Line: Locate the hard plastic PCV breather tube attached to the massive factory intake resonator. Depress the grey locking tab and pull straight out.
  4. Loosen the Hose Clamps: Using your 8mm nut driver or a flathead screwdriver, loosen the hose clamp securing the intake tube to the throttle body, and the clamp securing the tube to the airbox.
  5. Extract the Factory Intake and Resonator: Pull the factory resonator off the throttle body. The bottom of this bulky assembly is held down by rubber grommets. Grab the assembly firmly and pull straight up to pop it out of the mounting pins.
  6. Remove the Factory Airbox Tray: Use a 10mm socket and extension to remove the bolts holding the bottom factory airbox tray to the fender apron. Lift the tray out of the engine bay.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for GMC / Chevy Pickup & SUV

  1. Transfer the MAF Sensor (CRITICAL SENSOR PROTOCOL): Using your T15 or T20 Torx bit, carefully remove the two screws holding the factory MAF sensor into the OEM housing. Gently pull the sensor out. Transfer it immediately to your new aftermarket intake tube. Install using the supplied hardware. Crucial: Ensure the directional arrow on the MAF sensor points TOWARDS the throttle body.
  2. Install the New Heat Shield: Drop the new aftermarket heat shield / airbox into the factory location. Secure it using the provided hardware and your 10mm socket into the factory fender mounting holes.
  3. Install the Silicone Couplers: Slide the provided silicone step-coupler over the throttle body. Slide the remaining coupler onto the heat shield opening. Loosely slide your new hose clamps over the ends but do not tighten them yet.
  4. Route the Intake Tube and Tighten: Insert the new cold air intake tube into the heat shield coupler first, then pivot it into the throttle body coupler. Adjust for clearance so it does not rub against the radiator hose or fan shroud. Once aligned, tighten all hose clamps down snugly using your 8mm nut driver.
  5. Connect the PCV and Filter: Attach the factory PCV breather tube to the new fitting on your intake tube (listen for the click, or use the provided silicone hose if it replaces the factory hard line). Attach your new high-flow air filter to the end of the tube inside the heat shield and clamp it down with your 8mm socket.
  6. Reconnect and Relearn: Plug the MAF sensor harness back in and engage the red locking tab. Reconnect your negative battery terminal with your 10mm wrench. On the first startup, do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. Let the vehicle idle so the ECU can adjust to the massive increase in airflow.
