Unleash Your Power: High-Flow Cold Air Intake for GM’s Gen IV LS-based Vortec V8s (2007-2008)
Who It’s For: Designed specifically for owners of 2007-2008 Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Sierra, Yukon, and Yukon XL models running the legendary LS-based Vortec V8 engine family (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L). If you’re looking to extract more power, improve throttle response, and give your truck or SUV a more aggressive exhaust note, this is your next essential upgrade.
The Problem: GM’s Gen IV LS-based Vortec V8s are workhorses, known for their reliability and potential. However, the factory intake system is a notorious bottleneck. It’s designed for quiet operation and cost-efficiency, not maximum airflow. The restrictive airbox, convoluted piping, and baffled design choke these powerful engines, especially under load or at higher RPMs. This robs you of usable horsepower, dulls throttle response, and limits the true performance potential of your LS-based Vortec V8, whether you’re towing, hauling, or just cruising.
The Solution: We engineered this cold air intake system to correct those factory design flaws, delivering reliable, measurable performance. By replacing the stock, restrictive setup with a smooth, large-diameter intake tube and a high-flow, reusable air filter, your engine can finally breathe freely. This means a denser, cooler charge of air hits your combustion chambers, translating directly into improved horsepower, torque, and a far more responsive throttle feel. It’s the real-world difference you’ll feel every time you put your foot down.
Why This is the Ultimate Upgrade
- Instantaneous Performance Gains: By significantly reducing intake restriction and allowing a greater volume of cooler air into the engine, you’ll experience noticeable increases in horsepower and torque, particularly where you need it most — off the line and in the mid-range. This isn’t just a number on a dyno; it’s seat-of-the-pants improvement for towing, merging, and passing.
- Enhanced Durability & Longevity: Built with high-grade components like reinforced high-temp silicone couplers and industrial-grade stainless steel clamps, this intake is designed to withstand the harsh under-hood environment. The premium washable air filter offers superior filtration and can be cleaned and reused, providing long-term value and protection for your engine.
- Effortless Installation & Perfect Fit: Engineered as a direct bolt-on replacement for your factory system, installation is straightforward using common hand tools. No cutting, no drilling, just a clean, professional fit that integrates seamlessly into your engine bay, usually in under an hour. Just remember my golden rule: disconnect the battery’s negative terminal before you start — lets the ECM learn the new airflow parameters right from the first start.

Installation & Tools
Installation & Tools
The Wrench Time
- Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
- Difficulty: 3/10 - Basic driveway wrenching. The only delicate part is transferring the factory Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor.
Tools You Will Need
- 10mm wrench or deep socket (For the battery terminal)
- 8mm nut driver or socket (For all factory and aftermarket hose clamps)
- T20 Torx driver (For the factory MAF sensor screws)
- Flathead screwdriver or panel popper (To release the factory PCV breather tube clip and radiator shroud pins)
For the GMT900/NNBS platform, the factory PCV breather hose connection on the valve cover is notoriously brittle after years of heat cycling. Use your flathead screwdriver to gently depress the grey locking tab before pulling. Do not force it, or you’ll snap the plastic nipple off the valve cover. Also, this platform suffers from the giant factory "turtle shell" intake resonator clogging up the engine bay—removing it is going to clean up your engine bay massively, but make sure no dirt falls into the exposed throttle body during removal.
Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part for the 2007-2008 Chevrolet Avalanche Suburban Cheyenne Sierra
- Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and clear the ECU’s long-term fuel trims.
- Disconnect the MAF Sensor: Slide the red locking tab back, press down on the clip, and unplug the wiring harness from the Mass Airflow sensor. Tuck the harness out of the way.
- Detach the PCV Breather Line: Locate the hard plastic PCV line running from the factory intake tube to the passenger side valve cover. Gently depress the locking clip with a flathead screwdriver and pull it straight off.
- Loosen the Clamps: Take your 8mm nut driver and loosen the hose clamps securing the intake tube to the throttle body and the factory airbox.
- Yank the "Turtle Shell" and Airbox: Firmly pull the massive factory intake resonator off the throttle body. Next, grab the lower factory airbox and pull straight up to pop it out of its rubber mounting grommets. Set the entire bulky assembly aside.
Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for GMC Chevy Cadillac SUV Pickup (2007-2008) 4.8L 5.3L 6.2L Engines
- Transfer the MAF Sensor (CRITICAL STEP): Using your T20 Torx driver, carefully remove the two screws holding the MAF sensor in the factory airbox. Gently pull the sensor out. Do not touch the amber glass wire element inside the sensor! Dirt or oils from your fingers will ruin it. Slide it into the new aftermarket intake tube and secure it with the supplied hardware.
- Mount the New Heat Shield: Assemble the aftermarket heat shield with the provided rubber edge trim. Drop it into the engine bay, aligning the mounting tabs with the factory airbox grommet holes. Secure it down using your 10mm socket.
- Install the Silicone Couplers: Slide the provided silicone coupler over the throttle body and tighten the inside clamp using your 8mm nut driver. Leave the outside clamp loose for now. Do the same for the air filter adapter on the heat shield.
- Route the Tube and PCV: Drop the new aluminum cold air intake tube into the silicone couplers. Connect the provided silicone PCV breather hose from the new intake tube nipple directly to the factory valve cover port.
- Lock It Down and Relearn: Snug down all remaining clamps with your 8mm nut driver. Plug the MAF sensor harness back in and engage the red locking tab. Reconnect your negative battery terminal with the 10mm wrench. Important: On your very first startup, let the truck idle and DO NOT touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. This allows the ECU to read the increased airflow and adjust the idle accordingly.
