Release Your Acadia’s Potential: High-Flow Cold Air Intake for the High Feature V6 (LLT/LFX)
Who It’s For: Designed specifically for 2012-2017 GMC Acadia owners running the renowned High Feature V6 (LLT/LFX) engine family, who are looking to wake up their SUV’s performance, sharpen throttle response, and enjoy a more engaging driving experience.
The Problem: From the factory, your Acadia’s High Feature V6 (LLT/LFX) is a solid performer, but its intake system is a notorious bottleneck. Engineered primarily for noise reduction and cost efficiency, the stock air box and convoluted tubing choke your engine, especially under load or during spirited acceleration. This restrictive design limits the amount of cool, oxygen-rich air the engine can ingest, leading to noticeable throttle lag and leaving valuable horsepower and torque on the table. If you’ve ever felt your Acadia hesitate when merging onto the highway or noticed it struggle slightly with heavy towing, you’re experiencing the limitations of that factory setup firsthand.
The Solution: We’ve engineered this precision cold air intake system to completely overhaul your Acadia’s induction. By replacing the restrictive factory components with a smooth, high-velocity intake path and a high-flow performance filter, we unlock the true breathing potential of your High Feature V6 (LLT/LFX). This upgrade delivers a steady stream of cooler, denser air directly to your engine, eliminating bottlenecks, sharpening throttle response, and providing a tangible boost in horsepower and torque. It’s not just about raw power; it’s about a more responsive, efficient, and enjoyable driving experience every time you hit the road.
Why This is the Ultimate Upgrade for Your Acadia
- Peak Power & Torque: Engineered to boost both horsepower and torque by up to 10%, giving your Acadia’s High Feature V6 (LLT/LFX) the extra grunt it deserves for quicker acceleration, more confident passing, and improved towing capability.
- Instant Throttle Response: Eliminates the hesitation and sluggishness found in the stock baffled intake, delivering a much more responsive and immediate feel the moment you step on the gas pedal.
- Aggressive Induction Sound: Unlocks the authoritative, sporty rumble of your V6 engine during acceleration, transforming the driving experience without being overbearing during cruising.
- Superior Filtration & Durability: Includes a high-flow, reusable performance air filter designed to protect your engine from harmful debris while maximizing air velocity. The robust construction ensures long-term reliability and efficient filtration.
- Effortless Installation: Designed for a direct, bolt-on fit using factory mounting points, making installation straightforward with common hand tools and no permanent modifications. Your kit includes high-velocity induction piping, a high-flow performance air filter, and all required couplers, clamps, and hardware.

Pro Installation Tip
For optimal performance and to allow your Acadia’s engine computer (ECU) to properly learn the new airflow characteristics, we highly recommend disconnecting the NEGATIVE GROUND CABLE from your battery before starting the installation. Keep it disconnected for at least one minute after the installation is complete, then reconnect. This resets the engine’s adaptive learning, allowing it to fully capitalize on the increased airflow. Always ensure the engine is completely cool before beginning any work.

Installation & Tools
Installation & Tools
The Wrench Time: 2012-2017 GMC Acadia 3.6L Intake Upgrade
- Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
- Difficulty: 3/10 - Basic hand tools, mostly fighting 10-year-old underhood plastics on the Lambda platform.
Tools You Will Need
- 10mm socket and ratchet (for battery terminal and factory airbox bolts)
- 8mm nut driver or socket (for factory and aftermarket hose clamps)
- T20 Torx driver (for safely transferring the MAF sensor)
- Panel popper tool or flathead screwdriver (for releasing wire harness anchors)
- Phillips head screwdriver (for assembling the aftermarket heat shield)
The forum consensus on these LFX V6 engines is clear: the factory PCV breather hose connection on the OEM intake tube is notoriously brittle. It snaps easily if forced. Do not just yank it! Push the grey release tab firmly, push the hose inward slightly to break the seal, and then pull it off. Additionally, the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is highly sensitive. Never touch the exposed wire element, or you will be buying a replacement before you even get out of the driveway.
Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part from your 2012-2017 GMC Acadia 3.6L
- Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm socket to prevent check engine lights and allow the ECU to reset fuel trims.
- Unplug the MAF Sensor: Locate the MAF sensor on the factory airbox lid. Slide the red locking tab back, press the release clip, and disconnect the harness. Use your panel popper to unclip the harness wire from the factory intake tube so it moves freely out of your way.
- Disconnect the PCV Line: Locate the hard plastic PCV breather tube attached to the side of the factory intake. Depress the grey locking tab, push in slightly, and carefully slide it off the nipple. Tuck it aside.
- Loosen the Clamps: Use your 8mm nut driver to loosen the hose clamps at both the throttle body and the factory airbox lid.
- Extract the Factory Airbox: Remove the factory intake tube. Next, use your 10mm socket to remove the bolts securing the lower airbox tray to the chassis. Pull the entire lower airbox assembly up and out of the rubber mounting grommets.
Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for GMC Acadia (2012-2017) 3.6L V6 Engine
- Assemble and Mount the Heat Shield: Assemble the aftermarket heat shield and rubber edge trim using a Phillips screwdriver. Drop the new heat shield into the factory mounting locations and bolt it down securely using your 10mm socket.
- Transfer the MAF Sensor: Use a T20 Torx driver to remove the two screws holding the MAF sensor to the factory airbox. Carefully pull it straight out. Transfer it to your new aftermarket intake tube, securing it with the provided hardware. Do not over-tighten, and do not touch the sensor element!
- Mount the Silicone Couplers: Slide the provided silicone coupler over the throttle body and secure the 8mm hose clamp. Slide the new intake tube into the throttle body coupler, then attach the aftermarket air filter inside the heat shield using your 8mm nut driver to lock down the clamps.
- Reconnect the PCV and MAF: Push the factory PCV breather line onto the new aluminum fitting on the intake tube until you hear an audible click. Plug the MAF sensor harness back in and engage the red locking tab.
- The ECU Relearn Procedure: Reconnect the negative battery terminal with your 10mm socket. Start the vehicle. Do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. Let the Acadia idle so the ECU can calibrate to the increased airflow of the LFX engine without throwing a code.
