The factory wiring harness is notoriously tight, and the sensor plastic gets heavily heat-cycled and brittle. Do not pry it with a screwdriver. Unlock the tab, twist exactly a quarter-turn counter-clockwise, and pull straight out. If you break this, your truck will throw a CEL and run poorly until you hit the dealership for a replacement.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights. Let the vehicle sit for a few minutes to drain residual power.

  5. Perform the ECU Relearn Procedure: Reconnect the negative battery terminal using your 10mm wrench. Turn the key to the ON position (engine off). Start the engine, but do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. The 5.7L ECU needs this undisturbed idle time to calibrate its air-fuel mix to the increased airflow from the new intake.
