Tired of your RAM’s HEMI feeling sluggish off the line or struggling to breathe when towing? Unlock the true potential of your truck with an intake designed to deliver massive airflow and instant throttle response.

Performance Cold Air Intake for Dodge RAM 1500/2500/3500 (5.7L V8 HEMI)

The factory air box and intake tubing on your 2003-2008 RAM 5.7L HEMI are often designed with noise reduction in mind, leading to internal restrictions that choke your engine’s ability to pull in sufficient air. This limitation starves your HEMI, especially under heavy loads like towing or during spirited acceleration, preventing it from delivering its full power potential.

This precision-engineered cold air induction system replaces those restrictive OEM components with a high-flow, low-restriction design. By utilizing T304 lightweight aluminum piping, it draws in a larger volume of cooler, denser air directly to your engine. This optimization provides your 5.7L HEMI with the critical airflow it needs for improved combustion, resulting in noticeable gains in horsepower, torque, and throttle responsiveness across the entire RPM range.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Enhanced Power Output: Boosts your HEMI’s horsepower and torque by up to 10%, giving your RAM a significant edge in performance.
  • Superior Construction: Crafted from durable T304 lightweight aluminum, ensuring excellent heat management and long-lasting reliability in all conditions.
  • Optimized Fuel Efficiency: Promotes a more balanced air-to-fuel ratio, leading to a more complete and effective combustion cycle for potential fuel savings.
  • Instant Throttle Response: Eliminates intake restrictions, providing quicker and more immediate acceleration feedback from your HEMI engine.
  • Aggressive Engine Tone: Unlocks a deeper, more pronounced HEMI growl under acceleration, enhancing your driving experience with a powerful acoustic signature.
  • Advanced Filtration: Features a high-flow performance air filter designed to efficiently shield your engine’s internal components from harmful debris while maximizing airflow.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 30-45 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 2/10 - Basic hand tools required. The only real challenge is wrestling the bulky factory resonator off the throttle body and handling the fragile factory sensors.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm deep socket & ratchet (for the battery terminal and factory throttle body bolts)
  • 8mm socket or 5/16" nut driver (for worm gear clamps)
  • Flathead screwdriver (for releasing sensor tabs)
  • Panel popper tool (to safely pry off stubborn, baked-on hoses)
  • Silicone spray or soapy water (to lubricate the new rubber sensor grommet)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The factory IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor on the 5.7L Hemi is notoriously fragile. Do NOT pry on the wiring pigtail! You must gently twist the sensor a quarter-turn counter-clockwise to release it from the factory plastic tube. Breaking the small thermistor tip or the locking tab will instantly throw a Check Engine Light. Also, watch out for the rubber gasket under the factory "Hemi Hat" resonator—it loves to bake onto the throttle body and tear if forced.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights.
  2. Prep your 2003-2008 Dodge Ram Ram 1500 Ram Ram 2500 Ram 3500 1500 2500 3500 5.7L: Locate the factory Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor on the front passenger side of the intake tube. Depress the locking tab with a small flathead screwdriver and carefully unplug the wiring harness.
  3. Remove the Breather Hose: Pull the crankcase breather hose off the factory airbox. The 5.7L under-hood plastics get extremely brittle over time, so use a panel popper to gently pry the hose back if it’s seized to the plastic fitting.
  4. Unbolt the "Hemi Hat": Using your 10mm socket, remove the two bolts securing the massive factory resonator box (known by the community as the "Hemi Hat") directly to the throttle body (TB).
  5. Pull the Factory System: Loosen the lower airbox hose clamp with an 8mm socket. Lift the entire Hemi hat and airbox assembly straight up off the throttle body and out of the engine bay. Once removed, carefully extract the IAT sensor from the old tube using a quarter-turn twist and set it somewhere safe.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake

  1. Mount the Heat Shield: Assemble your new heat shield weatherstripping and drop the box into the factory lower airbox mounting points. Secure it to the inner fender using the provided hardware and your 10mm socket.
  2. Install the Throttle Body Coupler: Slide the new silicone step-coupler onto your throttle body. Slip on the provided hose clamps and snug the throttle body side using your 8mm socket or 5/16" nut driver, leaving the intake tube side loose.
  3. Transfer the IAT Sensor: Spray a tiny amount of silicone spray (or soapy water) onto the new rubber grommet and seat it into the pre-drilled hole on your new intake tube. Gently push your factory IAT sensor into the grommet until fully seated. Do not force it or strike it!
  4. Drop in the Tube: Slide the new intake tube into the throttle body coupler and route the filter end into the heat shield opening. Attach the new crankcase breather hose to the oil filler neck port. Tighten all remaining worm gear clamps with your 8mm socket and plug the factory wiring harness back into the IAT sensor.
  5. ECU Calibration Startup: Reconnect your negative battery terminal. Start the truck, but do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. This allows the ECU to read the increased airflow volume from the new intake and adjust the idle trims without throwing a lean code.
