Tired of your Dodge Neon SRT-4 feeling held back, suffocated by factory restrictions when you really want to unleash its power? Imagine the immediate throttle response and aggressive turbo spool that comes with optimized airflow.

Performance Cold Air Intake for Dodge Neon SRT-4 (2.4L DOHC Turbo)

The stock intake system in your 2003-2005 Dodge Neon SRT-4, while adequate for daily driving, becomes a significant bottleneck when you push your 2.4L DOHC Turbo engine to its limits. Designed with an emphasis on quiet operation and cost, the factory air box and convoluted intake tract restrict crucial airflow, starving your turbo of the dense, cool air it needs for peak performance, especially during high-boost pulls or spirited track days.

This precision-engineered cold air intake system directly addresses these limitations by replacing the restrictive OEM components with a high-flow, streamlined design. By drawing in cooler, denser ambient air and directing it through smooth, lightweight T-304 aluminum induction piping, this system minimizes turbulence and heat soak. The result is a more efficient air charge entering your turbo, leading to improved combustion efficiency, a noticeable reduction in turbo lag, and significant gains in both horsepower and torque across the entire RPM range for a truly exhilarating driving experience.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Unleashed Power & Torque: Experience gains of up to 10% in horsepower and torque, translating to sharper acceleration and a stronger top-end pull for your SRT-4.
  • Superior Airflow Efficiency: Replaces restrictive factory components with a direct, optimized pathway for cooler, denser air, maximizing your turbocharged engine’s potential.
  • Instant Throttle Response: Streamlined intake design reduces air turbulence and turbo lag, providing a more immediate and connected feel between your pedal and the pavement.
  • Aggressive Turbo Sound: Enhance your SRT-4’s signature turbo spool and blow-off valve acoustics, giving your vehicle a more pronounced and exciting mechanical growl.
  • Premium, Durable Construction: Features lightweight and robust T-304 aluminum piping, engineered for maximum durability and efficient thermal management under demanding conditions.

  • 8mm socket or 5/16 nut driver
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Panel popper tool
  • Silicone spray lubricant (or soapy water)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The SRT-4 community knows all about the "Red Line of Death." When removing the factory airbox on your 2003-2005 Dodge Neon 2.4L, you will find the TIP (Throttle Inlet Pressure) sensor solenoid mounted to it, connected by brittle red, white, and black hard plastic vacuum lines. DO NOT yank these. If you snap a 20-year-old line, you’ve got an instant boost leak. Warm them up slightly with your hands and twist gently to break the seal. Also, never force the factory IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor into the new intake dry—you will tear the O-ring. Always use silicone spray.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench or 10mm socket to prevent check engine lights and protect the ECU.
  2. Unplug the Sensors: Locate the IAT sensor on the backside of the factory intake tube and the TIP sensor on the airbox. Gently depress the locking tabs with your thumb (or carefully assist with a flathead screwdriver) and unplug both harnesses. Keep them safely out of the way.
  3. Disconnect the PCV Breather and Vacuum Lines: Carefully unroute the crankcase breather hose from the factory intake. Using your panel popper tool, gently pry the TIP solenoid off its mounting tab on the factory airbox without stressing those brittle hard vacuum lines.
  4. Loosen the Clamps: Use your 8mm socket to loosen the factory hose clamp securing the rubber intake tube to the turbocharger inlet.
  5. Remove the Airbox Assembly: Grab your 10mm deep socket and ratchet to remove the bolts holding the factory airbox to the battery tray and chassis. Once unbolted, firmly pull the entire restrictive factory assembly out of the engine bay.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Dodge Neon (2003-2005) 2.4L DOHC Turbocharged Engine

  1. Prep the Turbo Inlet: Slide the new provided silicone reducer coupler onto the turbo inlet. Slide two hose clamps loosely over the coupler but do not tighten them yet.
  2. Transfer the IAT Sensor: Carefully twist and pull the factory IAT sensor out of the old tube. Spray a tiny burst of silicone spray lubricant onto the rubber grommet of the new aftermarket intake pipe. Gently push the IAT sensor into the new grommet until seated flush.
  3. Route the New Piping: Feed the new cold air intake pipe down into the fender well (or engine bay, depending on configuration) and slide the top end into the silicone coupler at the turbo inlet. Slide the air filter onto the bottom of the pipe and tighten its clamp using an 8mm socket.
  4. Secure and Tighten: Bolt the new intake bracket to the factory chassis mounting point using your 10mm socket. Secure the TIP sensor solenoid safely away from hot exhaust components using a heavy-duty zip tie. Tighten the 8mm hose clamps at the turbo inlet until snug—do not over-tighten and crush the pipe.
  5. Reconnect and Calibrate: Reconnect the IAT and TIP sensor wiring harnesses until they click. Reattach the negative battery terminal using your 10mm wrench. On the very first startup, let the car idle normally and DO NOT touch the vehicle gas pedal for a full 20 seconds. This allows the ECU to properly read the new ambient airflow without triggering a check engine light.
