Feeling your classic Neon gasp for air, held back by an outdated intake? Unlock the full, spirited performance your 2.0L deserves with an immediate upgrade that lets your engine breathe freely and powerfully.

Performance Cold Air Intake for Dodge Neon (1995-1999) 2.0L 4 Cylinders Engine Blue

The factory air box in your 1995-1999 Dodge Neon, coupled with its restrictive pleated paper filter, acts as a significant bottleneck, choking your 2.0L 4-cylinder engine of the vital oxygen it needs. This inefficiency directly translates to sluggish throttle response, reduced horsepower, and a less engaging driving experience, preventing your Neon from reaching its true potential.

Our high-velocity cold air intake system specifically addresses these limitations by replacing the stock components with a streamlined T304 lightweight aluminum induction path and a high-flow, washable performance air filter. This design allows your engine to ingest a significantly larger volume of cooler, denser air with minimal restriction, fostering a more energetic combustion cycle for a noticeable boost in power and a crisp, responsive throttle.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Massive Power & Torque Gains: Unleash up to 10% more horsepower and torque by optimizing air-to-fuel ratios and ensuring unrestricted airflow, transforming your Dodge Neon’s acceleration and passing capabilities.
  • Sharper Throttle Response & Dynamic Sound: Experience immediate power delivery with reduced intake lag, complemented by a deep, authoritative roar under acceleration that signals true performance from your 2.0L I4.
  • Superior Durability & Easy Maintenance: Constructed from premium T304 lightweight, mandrel-bent aluminum for maximum strength and superior heat dissipation. The included washable, reusable performance air filter ensures long-term, hassle-free performance.
  • Effortless Direct-Fit Installation: Designed specifically for your 1995-1999 Dodge Neon, this cold air intake kit utilizes existing mounting points for a straightforward bolt-on installation with basic hand tools.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 2/10 - Perfect entry-level mod for the PL platform.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm socket and ratchet (Battery terminals, stock airbox bolts)
  • 8mm socket or Flathead screwdriver (Hose clamps)
  • 13mm socket (For vibration mount on the strut tower, depending on kit)
  • Panel popper or flathead (To release wire loom clips)
  • Silicone spray or mild soapy water (Crucial for sensor installation)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
On the 1995-1999 Dodge Neon 2.0L, the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is notoriously fragile. The plastic becomes brittle after decades of engine heat cycles. Do not pull the sensor out by the wiring connector. Twist it gently to break the seal, then pull from the base. If you crack this sensor, your idle will be rough, and you will throw a CEL immediately.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Safety first. Use a 10mm wrench or socket to disconnect the negative battery terminal. This also resets the ECU, forcing it to relearn the new airflow parameters for your 1995-1999 Dodge Neon.
  2. Remove the IAT Sensor: Locate the IAT sensor in the rubber factory intake tube. Carefully unplug the harness by pressing the release tab. Gently twist and pull the sensor out of the tube. Set it aside in a safe place—you will reuse this.
  3. Disconnect Breather Hoses: Detach the valve cover breather hose (PCV line) from the factory intake tube. You may need pliers if the clamp is rusted.
  4. Loosen Throttle Body Clamp: Use a flathead screwdriver or 8mm socket to loosen the clamp holding the intake tube to the throttle body.
  5. Remove Air Box Assembly: Locate the mounting bolts securing the air box (usually on the driver’s side frame rail or radiator support). Use a 10mm socket to remove them. Lift the entire factory intake assembly out of the engine bay.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Dodge Neon (1995-1999) 2.0L

  1. Install the Coupler: Place the blue silicone coupler onto the throttle body. Secure it with the provided hose clamp using a flathead screwdriver, but do not overtighten yet to allow for adjustment.
  2. Prepare the Intake Pipe: Locate the pre-drilled hole on the new aluminum pipe. Insert the supplied rubber grommet. Apply a small amount of silicone lubricant to the grommet and the tip of your factory IAT sensor. Gently push the sensor into the grommet until seated.
  3. Position the Pipe: Feed the intake pipe into position. For a true Cold Air setup, the pipe typically routes toward the driver’s side fender well. Slide the upper end into the silicone coupler at the throttle body.
  4. Secure the Mount: Align the vibration mount bracket on the pipe with the factory mounting point on the chassis (often near the strut tower or battery tray). secure it using the 10mm or 13mm hardware provided.
  5. Connect Hoses and Sensor: Reconnect the IAT sensor harness to the sensor. Connect the included blue vacuum hose from the valve cover breather port to the nipple on the new intake pipe.
  6. Install the Filter: Install the high-flow cone filter onto the end of the pipe. Tighten the clamp snugly using your flathead screwdriver.
  7. Final Tightening: Go back and tighten the clamp at the throttle body and the vibration mount bolt. Ensure the pipe is not rubbing against metal brake lines or the battery, which can cause holes over time.
  8. ECU Relearn: Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Start the engine and let it idle for 5-10 minutes without touching the gas pedal. This allows the Neon’s computer to adjust to the increased airflow.
