Feeling like your Magnum’s held back, especially on the highway? That sluggish throttle response and muted exhaust note can really take the fun out of driving your unique wagon.

Performance Cold Air Intake for Dodge Magnum (2005-2010 2.7L V6)

The factory air box and intake tubing on the 2.7L V6 Dodge Magnum are notoriously restrictive. Designed primarily for noise suppression and cost-effectiveness, they choke your engine’s ability to breathe, especially as RPMs climb or when you demand more power. This often translates to a dull throttle feel and less impressive acceleration than your Magnum deserves.

Our Performance Cold Air Intake system is engineered to directly tackle these limitations. By replacing the convoluted factory setup with a high-flow, smooth-bore induction tube and an advanced dry cone filter, it delivers a massive volume of cooler, denser air directly to your engine. This optimization means your 2.7L V6 can finally inhale freely, translating into tangible gains in horsepower, torque, and a far more responsive driving experience.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Tangible Power & Torque Gains: Feel a noticeable bump in acceleration and mid-range pulling power, making highway passing and daily driving more enjoyable.
  • Improved Fuel Economy: A more efficient burn from a denser air charge can lead to better MPG, especially under consistent driving conditions.
  • Sharper Throttle Response: Eliminate that frustrating intake lag, giving you immediate power delivery the moment you press the pedal.
  • Aggressive Engine Soundtrack: Transform your 2.7L’s hum into a deeper, more assertive growl that matches the Magnum’s bold character.
  • Optimized & Consistent Airflow: Engineered for steady, high-velocity air delivery across the RPM range, ensuring reliable performance in any situation.
  • Superior Filtration & Longevity: The high-flow dry filter captures harmful contaminants effectively, protecting your engine while maximizing airflow with less maintenance.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 2/10 - A straightforward driveway bolt-on, but requires patience when handling aging, heat-cycled factory plastics on your LX platform.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm Socket & Ratchet (For the battery terminal and factory airbox mounting bolt)
  • 8mm Nut Driver or Socket (For hose clamps)
  • Flathead Screwdriver or Panel Popper (To assist with harness release tabs)
  • Silicone Spray or Soapy Water (To lubricate the new sensor grommet)
  • Allen Keys (Typically 4mm or 5mm, depending on the supplied heat shield hardware)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 2005-2008 Dodge Magnum 2.7L engine bay is notorious in the LX community for two things: a highly sensitive IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor and brittle factory PCV make-up air tubes. When removing the factory IAT sensor from the OEM plastic tube, DO NOT pry it with pliers. It uses a twist-to-lock mechanism. Gently twist it counter-clockwise and wiggle it free. If the factory crankcase breather hose snaps during removal, don’t panic—your new kit provides a fresh silicone hose, just be sure to clean the engine block nipple thoroughly before sliding the new hose on.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench or socket. This resets the ECU so it can properly learn the new airflow dynamics without throwing a Check Engine Light.
  2. Disconnect the IAT Sensor: Locate the Intake Air Temperature sensor plugged into the factory air tube. Depress the locking tab on the grey wiring harness and pull to unplug it. Then, gently twist the IAT sensor counter-clockwise and pull it straight out. Set this sensor aside in a safe, clean spot.
  3. Remove the Crankcase Breather Hose: Trace the rubber breather hose from the factory airbox down to the engine block. Pull the hose off the airbox port. If it is stubborn, use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry the base of the hose loose.
  4. Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Grab your 8mm nut driver or socket and completely loosen the worm-gear clamp securing the factory intake tube to the engine’s throttle body.
  5. Extract the Factory Airbox: Locate the single mounting bolt securing the airbox to the front core support and remove it with a 10mm socket. Once the bolt is out, firmly yank the entire airbox assembly straight up to pop it out of the lower rubber mounting grommets. Remove the entire OEM assembly from the vehicle.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Dodge Magnum SE (2005-2008) 2.7L Engine - Blue

  1. Assemble and Mount the Heat Shield: Assemble your new metal heat shield using the provided hardware and an Allen key. Press the supplied rubber edge trim around the top rim of the shield to prevent rattling and seal against the hood. Drop the shield into the factory lower grommets and secure it to the core support using your 10mm socket.
  2. Install the Silicone Coupler: Slide the provided silicone reducer coupler over the 2.7L throttle body. Slide two hose clamps over the coupler. Tighten the throttle body side clamp down snugly with an 8mm socket, but leave the intake-tube side loose for now.
  3. Transfer the IAT Sensor: Press the supplied rubber grommet into the pre-drilled hole on your new blue aluminum intake pipe. Apply a tiny drop of silicone spray or soapy water to the O-ring of your factory IAT sensor. Carefully press the IAT sensor into the rubber grommet until it is fully seated. Do not force it or strike it.
  4. Mount the Intake Tube and Filter: Guide the blue intake pipe through the heat shield and push the other end into the throttle body coupler. Slide the high-flow blue cone filter onto the end of the pipe resting inside the heat shield. Once positioned so nothing is rubbing against the chassis or belts, tighten all remaining hose clamps with your 8mm socket.
  5. Final Connections and First Start Protocol: Slide the new provided breather hose onto the engine block nipple, and push the other end onto the welded barb on your new intake pipe. Plug the factory wiring harness back into the IAT sensor until it clicks. Reconnect your negative battery terminal with a 10mm wrench. When you turn the key for the first time, start the engine but absolutely do not touch the gas pedal for 20 seconds. Allow the vehicle to idle so the ECU can calibrate the new, denser airflow matrix.
