Ignite Your Dodge Intrepid & Chrysler V6 with a Performance Cold Air Intake

Who It’s For: Designed specifically for Dodge Intrepid, Chrysler Concorde, 300M, LHS, and Eagle Vision owners running the Chrysler LH Platform V6 engine, whether it’s the spirited 2.7L, the balanced 3.2L, or the potent 3.5L. If you’re looking to wake up that front-wheel drive sedan, sharpen throttle response, and give it a deeper, more aggressive engine note, this upgrade is for you. From daily drivers to those wanting to feel more connected to their machine, this intake delivers tangible improvements.

The Problem: The factory air box and restrictive intake piping on your LH-platform V6 are essentially choking the engine. In my experience wrenching on these for years, I’ve seen firsthand how the OEM setup limits the volume and velocity of incoming air, robbing your V6 of its true potential. This results in sluggish throttle response, reduced horsepower and torque, and a muted engine sound that doesn’t reflect the performance within. It’s like trying to run a marathon while breathing through a straw.

The Solution: We engineered this Cold Air Intake to correct the factory’s design flaws, delivering a consistent stream of cold, dense air to your V6. By replacing the inefficient stock components with a high-flow, low-restriction system, this intake significantly improves engine breathing. This translates directly into more usable power throughout the RPM range, sharper acceleration when you hit the gas, and a much more aggressive exhaust note that will genuinely put a smile on your face. It’s a proven modification to get more out of these reliable engines.

Why This is the Ultimate Upgrade

  • Immediate Performance Gain: Experience an immediate boost in horsepower and torque, up to 10%, giving your LH-platform V6 the edge it deserves. You’ll feel the difference in acceleration and responsiveness the moment you get on the throttle.
  • Uncompromising Durability & Filtration: Crafted from T304 lightweight aluminum piping for maximum strength, corrosion resistance, and efficient heat dissipation. Coupled with an advanced, washable air filter, this system is built to last and provides exceptional filtration for up to 50,000 miles between cleanings under normal driving conditions, keeping your engine safe.
  • Effortless Installation & Warranty Friendly: Designed for a straightforward, bolt-on installation using basic hand tools. Most enthusiasts can complete the upgrade in under an hour, making it one of the most impactful and easiest performance mods for your vehicle. Plus, it will not void your vehicle’s warranty, giving you peace of mind.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 3/10 - The bolt-on process is straightforward, but you’ll be wrestling with 20-year-old, heat-baked LH platform plastics. Patience is mandatory so you don’t snap any original mounts.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm and 13mm sockets with a ratchet and a 6-inch extension
  • 8mm nut driver (or a flathead screwdriver) for hose clamps
  • Panel popper tool (for prying stubborn wiring harness retainers)
  • Silicone spray lubricant (or soapy water for sensor transfer)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The biggest headache on the LH platform is the factory IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor. The rubber grommet holding it into the factory plastic tube turns to absolute stone after two decades. Do NOT pull it out by the wires, and do not aggressively pry the sensor body or you will break the delicate thermistor inside. Spray the base generously with silicone lube, let it soak for a few minutes, and gently twist it back and forth while pulling upward to free it.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part on your 1993-2004 Dodge Intrepid 2.7L 3.2L 3.3L 3.5L

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and allow the ECU to reset.
  2. Disconnect the IAT Sensor: Locate the IAT sensor on the factory intake tube. Slide back the red locking tab (if equipped) and depress the clip to unplug the harness. Tuck the wiring aside.
  3. Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Using your 8mm nut driver, fully loosen the factory hose clamp securing the stock rubber accordion boot to the throttle body. These factory rubber boots are notorious for cracking and causing vacuum leaks, so you won’t be reusing it.
  4. Unbolt the Factory Airbox: Grab your 10mm socket and remove the mounting bolts securing the factory airbox to the inner fender well and core support.
  5. Extract the Assembly: Firmly lift the entire factory airbox and intake tube assembly out of the engine bay. Once it is on your workbench, carefully remove the IAT sensor from the old tube using the twisting method described in the Pro Tip above.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Dodge Intrepid (1993-2004) 2.7L 3.2L 3.3L 3.5L Engines

  1. Prep the Aftermarket Pipe: Take the new supplied rubber grommet and press it into the pre-drilled hole on your new intake pipe. Apply a tiny drop of silicone lube to the inside of the grommet, then gently push and twist your factory IAT sensor into place until fully seated.
  2. Mount the Silicone Coupler: Slide the provided silicone reducing coupler onto your engine’s throttle body. Slip two provided hose clamps over the coupler, and lightly snug the throttle body side down using your 8mm nut driver. Leave the front clamp loose.
  3. Install the Heat Shield (If Applicable): If your kit includes a custom heat shield to block engine wash, mount it to the factory airbox mounting holes using the supplied hardware and your 10mm socket.
  4. Route and Secure the Intake Pipe: Drop the new cold air intake pipe into the engine bay, sliding the top end into the silicone coupler at the throttle body. Adjust the angle so it clears all hoses and harnesses, then tighten the remaining clamp with your 8mm nut driver.
  5. Mount the Filter and Reconnect: Slide the high-flow cone filter onto the end of the intake pipe and lock it down with an 8mm socket or nut driver. Finally, plug the factory wiring harness back into your freshly transferred IAT sensor.
  6. The ECU Relearn Protocol: Reconnect your negative battery terminal using your 10mm wrench. Start the vehicle, but do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. Let the Intrepid idle so the ECU can calibrate to the newly increased airflow.
