Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 3.7L and 4.7L PowerTech engines do not use a MAF sensor; they run off Speed Density. However, you MUST transfer the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) Sensor located in the stock intake tube. These sensors become extremely brittle due to engine bay heat cycles. Do not pull it by the wires. Twist gently to unlock it. If the O-ring looks flattened or cracked, replace it now to avoid a vacuum leak and a rough idle.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Resonator

This section covers the teardown for the 2003-2010 Dodge Dakota 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8.

Disconnect the Battery: Safety first. Use a 10mm socket or wrench to disconnect the negative terminal. This resets the ECU so it can relearn the airflow map for the new intake.

Transfer the IAT Sensor: This is the critical step. Insert the supplied rubber grommet into the hole on the new aluminum intake pipe. Lightly lube the IAT sensor probe with silicone spray or soapy water, then gently push/twist it into the grommet. Be careful not to snap the plastic probe.
Install the Throttle Body Coupler: Slide the silicone coupler onto the throttle body. Secure it with a hose clamp using your 8mm socket. Do not overtighten yet—leave it loose enough to adjust the angle.
Mount the Intake Pipe: Slide the intake pipe into the throttle body coupler and align the other end with the heat shield. Connect the crankcase vent hose to the new nipple on the pipe (use the supplied hose if the factory one is too short).
Install the High-Flow Filter: Slide the filter onto the pipe inside the heat shield area. Once everything is aligned and not rubbing against metal lines or the fan shroud, tighten all hose clamps with an 8mm socket or screwdriver.

I couldn't decide on four or five stars because it wasn't perfect, but pretty darn close. Went with five because I really like it so far. It fits perfectly with the color of my truck too, which is Pearl Blue. The reason I almost gave it a four is that the grommet for the air sensor is just a little too small for the size of the sensor. It needed to be about a 1/8" bigger. Finely got it in by putting some lube on the sensor and screwing it in off the truck since it took a lot of force. Then put some black RTV around the seal. Also, had to extend the wires to the sensor. I couldn't get them to reach. Had to modify the brackets also.
Bottom line
I love it. Gives the engine better air intake and also a throaty sound. It will take some modifications to adapt to a 2006 Dodge Dakota, but what would you expect.
